To me, it seems like the “fix” would have been distributed by Boeing, to the airlines/purchasers of the aircraft. ??
But maybe I don’t understand. I would not think the government would be distributing software updates for aircraft owned by other than the federal government.
Also, how would this have been a problem for Ethiopia?

The software fix, then according to The Wall Street Journal, was supposed to happen in January, and it was delayed because of the government shutdown because the FAA was offline. This implies they not only know what caused it but they have a fix already deployed since the shutdown ended a long time ago. So once again, why did that plane crash and why are similar planes now grounded indefintely if this is the case? Or is it .... fake news?

Hello - the plane crashed in early March, the shutdown was over a month and a half ago - my reaction is that the people at CNN can’t tell time....
