Turkish President Erdoğan on Saturday threatened Meral Akşener, chairman of opposition İyi(Good) Party, saying she would pay a price like others have for allegedly slandering him.
You cannot prove that Erdoğan called his people terrorists, Erdoğan said referring to himself in third person at a rally in the run-up to March 31 local elections after the two politicians argued over Erdoğans remarks accusing the opposition of supporting terrorists.
Erdoğan openly threatened Akşener in Elazığ province in reference to jailed Kurdish leader Selahattin Demirtaş. You will pay for[your remarks]. Your ally is paying the price. Some people are serving time in prison now. You could share the same fate, Erdoğan said, targeting Akşener.
In response to the presidents threat of imprisonment, Akşener tweeted that she would not be intimidated and refused to be silenced against injustice.
President Erdoğan on Thursday filed a legal complaint against Akşener for allegedly insulting him.
Erdoğan filed the complaint due to Akşeners remarks at a rally in Denizli in the run-up to local elections. According to Erdoğan lawyer Hüseyin Aydın, Akşener said in Denizli on Wednesday that Erdoğan called the people of the province terrorists for their political choices.
In his remarks Erdoğan had claimed that an alliance of opposition parties includes the Peoples Democratic Party (HDP), which he called the political representative of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK). Erdoğans lawyer claimed that the president warned the people against this relationship and urged them to be sensitive to it.
Erdoğans lawyer asked for a case in the name of the public against Akşener for insulting the president.

Why bother voting?
Is this what we will face in the US if we don't stop voter fraud?
Lying about the president is a crime in Turkey? Every liberal would be in jail if it applied here.
Jailing the opposition?
Who does he think he is, Bob Mueller?
Sheesh. The nerve of some pippl!
Absolutely correct. What have we been reduced to?

Shooting him between his stupid eyes would also be disrespectful, so be sure to watch out for that.
I recall ‘Election Season’ well in Turkey - that’s the time of year when all the poor Turks in the East get ‘gifts’. These gifts come from Erdogan’s party (AKP) and are typically washing machines and refrigerators. Hard to use, since there’s no running water and no electricity in many of the isolated villages.
Yes, really important stuff.
I can never go there, nor do I want to.
He does not like what I say. smile.
Why do our so-called foreign policy experts refer to Turkey as having a “government” with a “President” while referring to Syria as a “regime” with a “dictator”?
I have no explanation.
Neither are people I’d want to have anything to do with. Both associate with what I term terrorists. Erdogan is a much bigger threat to stability than Assad, I’m no fan of Assad.
I understand - neither he nor the TGS like what I did.
