Yup, that sums it up. Nobody today was a slave in the USA. There are those working for moslems, maybe they are.

He really doesnt want to argue about property and compensation if slaves were considered property. The South is due for some serious money as they were deprived of property.

Every former slave should receive a payment from their former owner.
For their desendants, no.

...why wouldnt you compensate people who actually were property...I guess it hasn't occurred to him that the people who actually were property are no longer alive.
Who will get the compensation that rightly belongs to the dead?
That's the real question.

I agree with the reparations proposal.
Of course, it must be accompanied by African-Americans posting a corresponding cash reward to white people for ending slavery. Then all will be good in the world.

If under the Constitution we compensate people because we take their property, why wouldnt you compensate people who actually were property,
No problem. Show me one.

I remember McGovern suggesting paying everyone who votes for him a thousand dollars.
Didn’t help.
To: jazusamo
I agree with Castro, but since they will be paid, there will not be a need for affirmative action programs. No minority set backs or quota programs. Once the payments are made to all who claim they are owed, then devalue the currency equal to the amount of money printed for this program with out any backing. The great equalizing force will be that everyone will be back to where they started before the payout, but now there will be no affirmative action programs.

Does anyone think actual reparations will be paid? It would be tied up in counter-lawsuits and appeals for months. And lead for the revenuers.

Screw these reparation payments to different races with butthurt
Be careful that all women don't start demanding theirs.
Honestly though
It's way past time for the Veterans of the Vietnam War to receive reparation payments.
They've been discriminated against.
Let me point out that none of tbem had a choice-They were drafted.
But not to even defend their own country.
But not women-what a violation of those men's rights that was, and genocide against that generation of males.
Was that intentional by the guys in charge?
To give their own children a better chance at everything.
Worse they were violated further by Jimmy Carter then President of the United States.
Because he issued a pardon so that his own son, who fled to Canada could get off the hook
Where are the reparations for this whole generation of men that were so horribly discriminated against?
To: jazusamo
Provided they can identify their slave master.

As a condition, the 'repararees' immediate renounce their citizenship, flee the country and vow never to return.
I'd even go for paying airfare/boatfare/whatever. Just leave.

This dude is just strange looking.
How would it be for the US to have a strange looking president for 4/8 years?

If under the Constitution we compensate people because we take their property, why wouldnt you compensate people who actually were property, the former Obama-era housing secretary and ex-San Antonio mayor said on Sunday.
Seems reasonable. I'd even go for $100,000/year to every former slave. Can even provide them a free trip to D.C. to pick up the check in person. I'm sure there will be lots of takers.

>>Where would the money come from? <<
There won’t be enough so they’ll also confiscate property.

Slavery in the US ended more than 150 years ago and no former US slave is still alive.
If they expended 10% of the energy they devote to this nonsense to the effort to end slavery where it still exists, in Africa and in the Muslim world, they might be doing the world some good. But they are only interested in setting one group against another in the US.
