House votes in favor of illegal immigrant voting

House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.

The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber — then under GOP control — voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.

“We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in,” Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure.

The 228-197 vote came as part of a broader debate on Democrats’ major legislative priority this year, HR 1, the “For the People Act,” which includes historic expansions of voter registration and access, as well as a major rewrite of campaign finance laws.

The measure would have had no practical effect even if it had passed. Illegal immigrants — and indeed noncitizens as a whole — are not legally able to participate in federal elections.

"IF you live here and pay taxes and you don’t get to vote, then it applies."

Post #74, you said in full:

The argument IS rational, taxation without representation.

What is not rational is letting them come in the first place.

Letting them in opens up a whole world of possibilities, as we see on almost a daily basis..

What were you saying there, and in your quote above?

Your position is that the 20 million+ illegal aliens that "live here and pay taxes" should get a say in representation here? I know that they shouldn't be here in the first place. That goes without saying. I know the liberals want the illegal aliens to vote, it also looks like that's what your advocating as well so long as they work and pay taxes here.

Mexican / Honduran / Chinese / Russian / Hungarian, etc citizens who have lived here illegally for 1 week, or 30+ years, STILL owe their complete allegiance to their foreign country...even IF they are paying taxes here.

Why would "taxation without representation" apply to them here? You think the framers and founders were advocating for such people to have influence in our government?

you keep bringing up short term residents ignoring my point about “permanent or long term.

I don’t think we have anything else to discuss.

I presented what is happening. When the next actions are taken to get illegals voting you will see I have identified their strategy correctly.

San Francisco already allows non-citizen to vote in local elections. I imagine if there are federal issues on the ballots they will vote for those too.

It's already happening. There is literally no check on who is registering to vote, other than the honor code of accepting that an illegal will not check the "US Citizen" box on their driver's license application in CA. And we all know if a person is willing to break into the country illegally they will have no qualms on checking a box on a bureaucratic form. The only way this ends is an American Bastille Day. Unless and until that happens, the country is largely lost already.

That is the essential question. And a big part of the problem is the effectiveness of the controlled media. It's a key strategic asset that helps defeat the will to fight even before the battle begins.

However, nothing is static. The soft, weak and succulent current generation that might very well lose their legacy will simply begat more desperate survivors. When a hot CW2 gets underway, it will most likely become genocidal.

Have you ever read about the partition of India after the British left in 1948? Millions upon millions of Hindus and Moslems moving east/west to find security among like others in either Pakistan and India.

So too when the battle over who controls the US gets underway. I cannot foresee a situation where it won't result in the forced removal of millions.

A compelling video.

Perhaps why Pelosi (?) released information on Occasional Cortex & her Chief of Staff that...

if there was “equal justice” would put the two of them behind bars for real campaign violations.

An interesting, informative video that should be shared. Thanks Cuban leaf for posting it!

Thanks, rxsid.

Holy Crap! I didn’t know Democrats would explicitly say they want illegals to vote! On what grounds? Doesn’t citizenship mean anything? Here in Canada you at least MUST be a citizen to vote.

[ House votes in favor of illegal immigrant voting ]

Democrats will take down the United States of America as long as they can stay in power - and illegal immigrants provide for the Cheap Labor Express.

So, citizenship means nothing.

Why are we paying taxes??

Why do we need a federal government?

Why do we need a country since we have no citizenship or borders?

I say we go into full blown anarchy and let the survival of the fittest be the rule of law.

Might is right.

It’s where we are headed.

Once registered to vote, who monitors their vote, to assure they only vote in local elections? They are on the rolls. The Dems won’t even ask for an ID now, do you really think they will care?

The above amendments all talk about voting. It says repeated the rights of citizens to vote shall not be abridged.

I would think allowing non-citizens would dilute the vote of citizens and therefore constitute an abridgement.

Article XIV "2: Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age,15 and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State. affects 2"

Article XV (Amendment 15 - Rights of Citizens to Vote) The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Article [XIX] (Amendment 19 - Women's Suffrage Rights) The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. affects 15 Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Amendment XXIV (Amendment 24 - Abolition of the Poll Tax Qualification in Federal Elections) 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote in any primary or other election for President or Vice President, for electors for President or Vice President, or for Senator or Representative in Congress, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state by reason of failure to pay any poll tax or other tax. 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Amendment XXVI 1: The right of citizens of the United States, who are 18 years of age or older, to vote, shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any state on account of age. affects 15 2: The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Very good summary but GOP members of congress are voting to pass some hideous bills.

we are way down the slippery slope
We let their kids in school and now SF says the illegals should vote in school board elections because we’re educating their children,.
Well the next step is city elections because their lives are affected by city government, and then county and state and so forth.
One you let them in and let them to stay, liberals oan justify anything.
