The man accused of assaulting a conservative activist on the University of California, Berkeley campus last month has been the subject of a restraining order and has filed numerous restraining orders himself, attorney Harmeet Dhillon told Fox News on Wednesday.
Zachary Greenberg, 28, pleaded not guilty this week to three criminal charges stemming from his alleged assault of Hayden Williams, whose beating has received national attention and even been cited by President Trump during his recent CPAC speech.
Williams, who is 26 years old and not a student at Berkeley, said he was manning a recruitment table on campus for conservative group Turning Point USA when a man alleged to be Greenberg punched him.
The incident was caught on video and soon went viral.
Dhillon, Williams attorney, revealed on Tucker Carlson Tonight" that Greenberg has had previous legal issues.
He had allegedly filed numerous restraining orders and small claims against his roommates and also sued landlords -- but the cases were dismissed, Williams said.

The Alameda County District Attorneys office has filed criminal felony charges against a software engineer who allegedly attacked a conservative activist at the University of California, Berkeley campus on Feb. 19.
The charges against Zachary Greenberg, 28, include three felony counts and one misdemeanor count, according to a criminal complaint obtained by Fox News.
The felony counts relate to assault and causing, or intending to cause, bodily injury, and criminal threats. A misdemeanor count is related to vandalism, the complaint shows.
The charges come five days after police arrested Greenberg for allegedly attacking Hayden Williams, who is 26 and not a student, while he was manning a recruitment table on campus for the conservative group Turning Point USA.
We are pleased that the good investigative work of our police department has led to the filing of these charges, said Dan Mogoluf, assistant vice chancellor at UC-Berkeley, to Fox News. The university believes that those who violate the free speech rights of others must be held accountable and face the appropriate consequences.
Greenberg is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse in Oakland.

Just look at his mug shot that accompanies the article; pure, thin-lipped suppressed fury. If he could have killed the photog. and all the cops, he would have. He’s a wannabe mass murderer in the making. Let’s hope he gets to share a cell with Weird Harold.
So neither one of them was a student, just outside agitators?
“...pleaded not guilty this week to three criminal charges stemming from his alleged assault of Hayden Williams...”
Stupid move, it’s recorded on video for all to see. He would have been better off to plead guilty and cut a deal for lesser penalties.
One was an agitator—can you guess which?
And he took at least one non-credit course, iirc.
But yes, neither was affiliated with UCB at the time of the incident.
Story says Greenberg’s former roommate had obtained a restraining order, & Greenberg was required to surrender his shotgun & ammo in that case. Indicates the roommate was in imminent danger.
Under the current charges, he’s now ordered to surrender any additional guns & ammo he might have. Huh. You mean a bad guy might ignore CA laws & acquire unregistered guns after he’s already forfeited his registered ones?
And, the major takeaway here, is Greenberg is an extreme leftist who wants to deny OUR 2nd Amendment rights.
FWIW, I knew some Greenbergs in the 1980s. Wonder if they’re related.
Bring back the state outhouses and a lot of this problem gets solved.
Nuthouses!
I’m guessing the dude is not popular with the ladies.
He’s mental, like that other sitcom guy that was replaced, the nut who used “winning” in his kook videos
