There is an MCAS air station where I live and there are tons of "veterans" outside the Wal Marts begging for money and blessing all who drive by. They all look alike and their signs even their dogs and wheelchairs are distressingly similar.
Notably, one very prominent one was outed for his non-service despite fooling almost everyone including the local media and the Salvation Army. It all started with a simple question by a gunny who was actually intending to help him out.
"What unit were you with?" The answer, of course was all wrong.
Don’t know. They took down 1 I put up the other day of this Big kid, beating my Disabled G. Nephew on the school bus, Said it didn’t meet the community standards.
They have NO standards against Porn, violence. But you can’t post a Road Rage Bully beating a Disabled Child on the school bus, and the driver did Nothing, Principal only did 3 days in school suspension. His mom had a fall a few days before and has a severe concussion so can’t drive can barely stand long. Not her first, could have brain trauma. Gavin has the worse form of Duchenes MD a genetic disease. He’s 13 and can’t fend off bullies twice his size.
When in NC and SC have seen these clearly FAKE veterans— and they sit on the exit ramps (some of them actually are amputees from car accidents etc.) and beg money for a “homeless” veteran.
Quickly shut down one I saw who sign said “Vietnam Veteran- homeless”— asked him how old he was, and he said “38” (and he was a seriously wino/drunk old looking 38, meth in there also— teeth rotten, etc.). Said “so when did you serve, and where”? He said he was in Khe Sanh (lot of them do, btw) during Tet (which was in Jan. 1968 in fact) and my reply was” Buddy, you weren’t even born yet during Tet- you say you are 38 now— you would have to be 50 years old right now and even then you would have been an INFANT in 1968... (this encounter was last year 2018).
The net reply was a stream of violent invectives and spit at my car window— dude was a TOTAL fraud— NOT a veteran (not of Vietnam anyway) and definitely not Tet Offensive.
Cardboard sign- grifter— hanger on for wine, and meth, and probably being “run” by a ganger (we had those with homeless gangs working in Central FL— dude in a mercedes picked them up and dropped them off at a mall parking lot- and had sacks of cash (cops stopped this ring of Oliver Twist “homeless).
From everything I’ve heard about the guy, and believe me, I’m not siding with him, I think he’s scum, he never claimed to be a Vietnam vet, but a Vietnam era vet, and the press obligingly cut out the word Era and he just made no effort to correct their intentional misrepresentation.
