The district is historically Democrat and represented by socially conservative, pro-coal legislators for decades.
The prior RAT incumbent *ran unopposed* during the three most recent elections (including in 2016), so I don’t think that there was any need for “vote fraud” by the Democrats to keep him in office. Not every RAT win is due to vote fraud.

No, I know what you’re saying. The problem is that when results of these elections are announced here, some FReepers (who aren’t necessarily election junkies like some of us are) mistake these races for federal level. Those races, of course, are rare and will generally be better-known and watched.

The problem here is that while it was held by the GOP, it was a suburban Hillary-voting district. That’s where the GOP performed the worst both at the state and federal levels across the country in 2018. It was a serious embarrassment that the prior holder of this district couldn’t keep it as an open seat.
Their silence speaks volumes.

Fact is, this district had become a way to represent deep pocket construction interests. Having a Republican that would represent small towns getting their fair share of money is what wins this election, so it seems. Phil Robinson in his campaign very smartly made an issue of how every voter matters.
It's Repbulican leadership arrogance that cost that seat. They should've chosen someone humble and connected and who knows how fed up small town voters are. I'm a life-long Republican. I helped Democrat Phil Robinson's ad go viral. I hope the message sent is how fed up voters are with establishment priorities!

The election results weren’t reported in the two main Kentucky newspapers from Louisville and Lexington. You will find it covered in out of state papers.
Supposedly, Mitch’s district is super purple so it’s hard to beat him there. perfect example is when that asshole Paul Ryan won hands down in his election.

The eGOP seems to be too gutless to run a conservative in districts like this.
IIRC the republicans have flipped strong dem districts in the past 2 elections.

I noticed Trakis didn’t exactly earn an overwhelming majority in the GOP primary. The establishment RINOs are a real problem for us, and unfortunately, tend to have huge bankrolls that overwhelm the more humble bank accounts of the preferred Conservative grassroots candidates.
Trakis would’ve done even worse it not for early voting.
When can we flip Rand Paul for someone who cares about our borders?
It was a huge tactical area. I think a lot of people tend to be more willing to vote in the abstract for national office. For their home-town vote that affects us directly, except for the idiotic cities, people are more likely to vote for a conservative who will protect their small town values and independence from big government. By running a bought and paid for RINO, not enough voters saw any reason to vote Republican. This guy wasn't going to get money to these small towns. He was going to be in support of construction projects and government subsidies to for-profit schooling and medical providers who are deep-pocket donors.
