This policy should not surprise anyone. In business, a single remark can cost your job. Likewise a teacher who does not understand how easy it is to say something offensive in class will be criticized by those offended students and will be censored for it.

I used the expression, “whatever” and I cannot even remember the context but my advisor cautioned me to be more cautious in front of the class.

I was not teaching a social science class, it was a lads in beginning electronics, but I became more careful, since the depth head was taking a special interest in me.

The first FIFTY PAGES of the 1950s “Stochastic Control Theory” book published in the Soviet Union carefully explained that, even though Marx said that nothing was ‘random’, it is sometimes useful to ‘pretend’ that a system with a large number of elements is random in order to simplify approximation calculations.

This has nothing to do with advancing diversity. Just the reverse. It’s a ploy to reduce intellectual diversity by screening out prospective faculty who are not fluent in Newspeak. Apparently the administration suspects there may be a conservative hidden in the math department and thinks precautionary measures are in order.
