Mitch McConnell and Andy Barr are top 2020 targets for Emily’s List

WASHINGTON Emily’s List is naming Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell and Rep. Andy Barr as two of its top targets for 2020.

The Senate Majority Leader and Barr, a Lexington Republican, are among the first round of candidates the Democratic group that backs women running for office is putting “On Notice” as part of its opposition program targeting 43 House Republicans and six Senate Republicans.

Kentucky may be tough for Democrats, who unsuccessfully challenged Barr in 2018, but Stephanie Schriock, president of Emily’s List, said “after flipping the House with Democratic women in 2018, we’re ready to send more Republicans packing in 2020.”

She accused McConnell and the other five Republican senators of serving as “rubber stamps for the Trump administration’s harmful policies at the expense of the American people” and said Emily’s List hopes to replace all six with Democratic women who support abortion rights.

Citing McConnell’s steadfast support for Trump’s controversial Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, Schriock said the Kentucky Republican “has made it clear that he will continue to advance his party’s dangerous and destructive agenda.

“While House Democrats are passing legislation to advance opportunities for American families, Senate Republicans refuse to even vote on these crucial measures, including one that would protect voting rights to ensure Americans have a voice in democracy,” she said.

McConnell is a top target for Democrats, but no top tier challenger has jumped in yet. Matt Jones, a well-known Kentucky sports radio personality, has said he’s interested. But he’s waiting on Amy McGrath, a Democratic star who lost to Barr last year and is being courted by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-New York, to run for the Senate.

I’m on all the DNC mailing lists and it surprised me that one of their main targets is Susan Collins (the poor thing). Well, I hope it makes Susie mad enough to 1) run a feisty campaign, and 2) vote for our side more often.

Well I’d like to see Mitch gone too. Surprised these Emily’s List idiots would make Mitch a main target, he’s barely a Republican at all. He has slow walked or outright blocked almost everything Trump has tried to do. A gutless Rino in fact. He likes to take credit for not putting Garland in but the truth is he fully expected the witch to win and Scalia’s seat was going to be a gift to her.

On which items where the votes actually existed to pass?

He likes to take credit for not putting Garland in but the truth is he fully expected the witch to win and Scalia’s seat was going to be a gift to her.

Please cite your evidence to support that, considering at the time that event occurred Hillary had not even won her party's nomination, let alone did it even look like she was likely to win the general election...and considering this was followed by baiting the Democrats into triggering him to go nuclear to get Gorsuch on the Court, causing that option not to exist for the Dems when the next vacancy occurred to get Kavanaugh seated, as well as the record number of conservative judges confirmed to Circuit Courts of Appeal - if the "truth" is that he wanted the Courts stacked with Leftists he had the opportunity to do so and did the opposite - that's your evidence?

There's been a lot not to like about McConnell over 30+ years...no need to make up nonsense.

There are numerous quotes of him saying he fully expected HRC to win. Her winning the Rat Primary was assumed by all. He really had no choice but to go nuclear with Gorsuch. Yes I admit to speculation about Garland but Mitch is a deep state hack and l believe my theory has a good chance of being right.

An excellent post. Every word is true. And, yes, McConnell expected (and probably hoped) that Shillary would win in 2016.

the Trump administration’s harmful policies
She's in favor of abortion, infanticide, and voting for felons and illegals, but Republicans have harmful policies?

You can't cheat the vote unless you have unethical people in 'no snitch' communities willing to do the fraud.

We don't have that...

Our goal must be to stop voter fraud, not to attempt to compete with dems to the bottom.
