Its still well under the radar, but the movement to circumvent the Electoral College gained ground this week. On Sunday, Jared Polis, the governor of Colorado, said he would sign a bill to join the National Popular Vote interstate compact, whose members have pledged to give their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote. The Maine Legislature, likewise, is mulling membership and will hold hearings to discuss the issue.
Attacking those lawmakers, Paul LePage, the former governor of Maine who still calls into conservative radio shows from his retirement home in Florida dismissed the proposal as an attack on the political rights of white people. Actually what would happen if they do what they say theyre going to do is white people will not have anything to say, he said. Its only going to be the minorities that would elect. It would be California, Texas, Florida.

Another article talks about all the defects without one word about what type of popular vote to replace it with or the implications to our party structure if the Electoral College was eliminated.

Wow, New Yorkers think that the five biggest states should run the other 45 as colonies. Who’da thunk it?

Well, then I’m glad we don’t have a democracy. Try Constitutional Republic instead.
To: C19fan
Its so obvious they dont want to teach the Constitution or even follow it.
Thomas Jefferson had more brain power in his pinky toe than the sum total of every Democratic elected official in the nation.

Except we aren’t supposed to have a frickin’ Democracy. Its a Constitutional Representative Republic.
If these people don’t like it then GTFO. I’m sure Red China will welcome them.

We’re a Republic, not a democracy. Read the Constitution idiots at the NYT.

You know, just as a fantasy, I would love to see the Marxists get their way on this: They do away with the electorate and Trump ends up winning on the popular vote while their candidate would have won had the electoral college still been in effect. LOL LOL LOL!

This issue will be the trigger for CWII. It would permanently disenfranchise a majority of the counties and districts in the country and end our Republic.

The Electoral College Is the Greatest Threat to Our Democracy
Well, duh. It prevents ‘democracy”. These people are imbeciles. The federal Government is not a democracy you maroons! And that is by design. It is a constitutional, representative republic. The voters don’t select the president. The states do.
To: C19fan
They must mean “their” democracy. Not my form of govt. and with good reason. Call it what it is! Lots of pundits still use the term. Even on the conservative side. STOP IT!
