New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is trying to win back Amazon by making calls to executives, including Jeff Bezos, according to The New York Times.
Cuomo is upset with local politicians who had opposed the deal with Amazon.
Amazon abandoned its plans to build half of its new headquarters in New York City earlier this month.
Several local New York leaders will publish an open letter in the Times, asking Amazon to come back.
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been pleading with Amazon executives, including CEO Jeff Bezos, to reconsider their decision to abandon plans to build a new office there, The New York Times reported Thursday.
Cuomo was outraged at local politicians who had opposed Amazons HQ2 build on Long Island City and eventually drove the company out. Following Amazons Valentines Day announcement that it was abandoning its planned move to New York that would bring 25,000 jobs, Cuomo issued a statement saying, a small group [of] politicians put their own narrow political interests above their community which poll after poll showed overwhelmingly supported bringing Amazon to Long Island City the states economic future and the best interests of the people of this state.
In the past two weeks, Cuomo has reportedly been trying to do damage control by promising Amazon executives he would help them cut through New Yorks bureaucracy, according to the Times, though Amazon has not indicated its working.

Oh, Fer cryin’out loud.
This had NOTHING to do with AOC.
NYS could NOT afford the multi-billion dollar bribe.
Sorry, pal. You democrats own Alexandria Occasional-Kotex. The most positive thing you can do is primary her in 2020. Until then, wake up and smell the socialism!!
AOC arrived on the scene too big fr her britches
When she chased Amazon away inadvertently, she in effect killed herself
she is now persona non grata
her Amazon comment was a bridge too far
As soon as Amazon pulled out, the majority said "what the hell happened???" They ignored the left-wing and union zealots who put pressure on the local politicians. Now everyone is scrambling.
This episode is a microcosm of what is happening in America: ultra left-wing yells about an issue, they are laughed at and ignored, they win, the majority suffers.
maybe amazon took heed of this part of the NY state budget director’s statement outlining the who, how and why of amazon being driven out of NY:
“New York State also has the most pro-worker legal protections of any state in the country. Organizing Amazon, or Whole Foods workers, or any company for that matter, is better pursued by allowing them to locate here and then making an effort to unionize the workers, rather than making unionization a bar to entrance.”
Oh sure the techie masters of the universe all want to move to Binghamton.
The fact the leftists in NY need to make offers like this to attract big business only proves that NY has very high taxes and prohibitive regulations.
Yes. NY. Or maybe chicago. San Fransicko?
Primary her, Evil Eyes!
Rule 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon."
It was an important commercial hub once. Amazon could rule the place.
Somebody needs to post that Christmas Movie scene where the Ralphie kid is stuck to the light post by his tongue, saying “Come back....come back...”. These socialist dirtbags don’t care that they’re wrong. They only care that they can make a good living at it.... without being LAUGHED AT LOUD AND HARD. Anybody with the skills and the time should be PUTTING THE WOOD to these clowns... with this.
The Binghamton mayor and city council folks would have had a heart attack each. You could have set the average salary at $45k each though, and made tons of money for local community. Then the first snowfall would have occurred, and half the Google-force would have evaporated.
2. Amazon competes with companies like Google and Microsoft for talent. How many people in that industry do you think would be willing to relocate to Binghamton from places like Seattle and Silicon Valley?
economically depressed is an understatement
More proof that old-school machine Democrats like Cuomo, Pelosi, Schumer and DiFi are losing control of that party.
If I had to guess, Bezos won’t be back anytime soon - like it or not, he has to send a signal to all current and future cities/states, that if they negotiate a deal, they need to stick to the deal - and the responsibility of making sure everyone is happy with it (from the gov side), rested squarely with Cuomo and DeBlasio - they blew it - wasn’t amazons responsibility to check individually with every two-bit politician that felt they needed to be stroked - amazon negotiated with the two most powerful people in NYC politics - they in turn should have gotten the rest of the bit players on board (or not) ahead of time - not after a deal was agreed to.
