Economic slavery for white people. Either slavery is wrong or it’s not; and once again Democrats are OK with it. Slavery in Africa is at an historic all time high. It thrives on world trade. Do these hypocrites want to stop it? Not if there isn’t anything in it for themselves.

So the 360,222 union soldiers that
gave their lives during the civil
war isn’t enough of a payment?
They freed 3.9 million, according to the 1860 Census, by July 1865. That’s about
11 slaves per soldier. The debt has been
paid.

Let’s start from the 40 acres and a mule. The average cost of an acre of land is roughly $3,000 and a mule between $1,00 and 3,000 the current value. So that is roughly $122,000 in present value for each person who can verify they are a descendant of a slave before the Civil War. Now, we start deducting for costs related to the Civil War, the costs paid in various sundries since that time and it comes out that it is a negative balance when all things are added up. Examples would include race only clubs and schools, scholarships etc. If reparations are paid, then all legislation except granting of equal rights (which is what they should have) shall become null and void. Racism unless proven beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law shall not be invoked ever. It should become illegal to make a false accusation of racism including other terms like a white supremacist, white privilege, etc. This should be dealt with by a very strict punishment. Since the cost is actually beyond the actual monetary value afforded 40 acres and a mule, then they should be given nothing and put on equal footing with everyone else. /s

If reparations were written into a bill, Republicans should insist on its entire value be converted into Mutual Fund stock—held for a minimum of 15 years.

With this the rats are trying to buy their way back to the black vote which I think they never lost. More money for lotto, liquor and drugs. If they legitimately used this money to dig themselves out of a hole they would not be eligible for it anymore, hence welcome to my lifestyle

(...) Now, Cornel, I have often heard blacks demanding reparations for slavery. All right. I agree. It is only fair. I will pay a half-million dollars to each of my slaves, and free them immediately. I am not sure how many I have, but will try to give you an estimate in even dozens. Further, I believe that all blacks are entitled to a similar amount for every year in which they were slaves.

However, I think you owe us royalties for the use of our civilization, which can be regarded as a sort of software. There should be a licensing fee. After all, every time you use a computer, or a door knob, you are using something invented by us. Every time you sharpen a pencil, or use one, or read or write, you infringe our copyright, so to speak. We have spent millennia coming up with things–literacy, soap, counting–and it is only fair that we receive recompense.

The accounting burden would be excessive if we tried to distribute royalties in too fine a granularity, such as three cents per use of a boom box or a Glock, so we should probably use a bundled approach–so much per year for use of the wheel, refrigerator, and television. The amount could be deducted first from reparations payments and then automatically from EFT cards. (...)

Reparations: the split will be 90% to white lawyers 10% to slave descendants.

Politicians pay their masters not the voters.

When are the African countries that sold their people into slavery going to pay reparations?

My grandparents (both sides) emigrated here in the 1920s - well after slavery was long gone. Demonstrably, we (our family) did not own slaves, were not part of the US, never part of the system in the US that supported slavery. I absolutely believe we should be completely exempt from consideration or any financial burden.

Seems like a pretty simple judo approach on this would work. Support a Reparation Settlement Fund by giving the Historically Black Colleges a substantial contribution to their endowments, make them self-sustaining and even able to grow enrollment.

Set a standard for who gets what, to try to equal the contribution per African-American student currently attending (to make sure the money goes to the schools with the minority enrollments still mostly AA as well as to teach a lesson about about socialism since the wealthier HBCU’s would get less of a contribution - i.e., Grambling would get more per student than Southern).

Make DAMN sure it is the Republican proposal and that the more mainstream AA groups and church groups are on board. Isolate the radical AA groups and their far left allies into trying to argue against it. Have Ben Carson and Alveda King lead the initiative along with DeVos and find church leaders to support it. Have high profile HBCU graduates talk publicly about how important their alma maters were to them.

Takes the issue away forever, hard to argue against since the Left always cries about educational disadvantage, and makes anyone on the Left who argues against it look really petty.

As well as continue the Trump Admin inroads to the AA vote!

If they are going to charge me even though my ancestors came here in the late 1800s, they should also charge ALL of the voluntary immigrants from anywhere, including Africa.

All of the illegal immigrants MUST be identified and charged, too.

So my ancestors were Cherokee and Catawba. They actually hid the Cherokees during the Trail of Tears. The Government denied every claim laid by family members because they weren’t on the Cherokee rolls. Kind of makes sense since they were hiding them but I digress. Do I get reparations? Do I get extra credit for helping the Cherokee (okay well, I wasn’t there but my DNA was) or will that actually cost me? It’s all so confusing!

The great fallacy is that slavery didn’t begin in America; absence of slavery is unusual worldwide and throughout history. Absence of slavery is restricted basically to places and times influenced by such as William Wilberforce - Christians, especially Protestants, and especially English-speaking Protestants after about 1700

I didn’t say all Christians; Epistle of Paul to Philemon, part of the New Testament, makes clear that Christianity did not begin with a condemnation of slavery as an institution.

And indeed the southern slaveowners were Christians - Christians who were situated to be "the last to get the word” that Christianity no longer condoned the institution. They argued biblically for it - they were the only ones to do so, because prior to that era the institution was not under attack and needed no defense. And yes, they fought to preserve it. If you can’t see how they could do so, I ask you to consider what your reaction would be if someone told you that electricity, natural gas, running water, oil, gasoline, automobiles, airliners, things made of plastic, and modern health care “weren’t Christian.” Because if all modern conveniences were taken away from you today, you would think yourself ill-used indeed.

And all that would be happening to you would be that you would be placed in exactly the same condition that a person without “servants” was in in 1860. You, Dear Reader, almost certainly have a higher standard of living than Queen Victoria did. Let alone a southern slaveowner. You grew up enjoying the fruits of electrical appliances and so forth, and they grew up having “servants.”

“Forty acres and a mule” doesn’t begin to compare with what Americans, black or white, inherit (if they survive “the right to choose” and are born) without anyone giving a thought to it. “Forty acres and a mule” is the opportunity to thrive through hard work, not an easy chair. And everyone born in America has that - or would, if the schools were well disciplined and fatherless boys weren’t shooting up neighborhoods.

What gets me about this “reparations” debate is, the slave owners lost all their “equity” when the slaves walked off the plantation into freedom. The local Black Republicans raided the taxes until the owners couldn’t pay the taxes and broke up the remaining plantations that didn’t get looted or burned by the invading Union army and it’s “bummers” And why tax the victorious “Freedom Fighters”

It’s a debt that’s been paid for already.
