Two recent bills proposed by state legislators in Illinois and Iowa reveal a disturbing perspective on parental rights thats becoming more prevalent in our country: the belief that parents cannot be trusted to care for their children.
The Swiftly-Defeated Illinois Bill
In Illinois, a little over a week ago, Democratic state Rep. Monica Bristow introduced House Bill 3560. That bill sought to amend the school code to require the Child Protective Service unit of the Department of Children and Family Services to investigate the home of a child being homeschooled to ensure there is no suspected child abuse or neglect in the home. The proposed law would have applied to every child being homeschooled, even when there was no reason to suspect neglect or abuse.
The response of homeschooling families was swift. We live in such a guilty until proven innocent culture, Amy Kwilinski, an Illinois homeschooling mom of six (including four with special needs) told The Federalist. It seems like our culture is headed toward a mistrust of homeschooling, which might send us dangerously toward a German-like ban, Kwilinski added, noting that she plans to contact all of her elected officials.

What is the old saying?
Professionals built the Titanic, but amateurs built the ark.
Government’s objectives and effects are no more obvious than with the school-busing issue. I lived in an inner city neighborhood and heard it explained best by my black neighbor:
“Time was we knew who all the kids were around here. We’d say - that’s Johnny. Stay away from him,” and our kids would stay away. Then the government got the idea they needed to bus our kids all over town for “equality.” Since then we don’t know how to protect our families... We don’t know what’s going on... And everyone’s helpless without even MORE government assistance!”
Because the state knows best - look at the public school system if you don’t believe it.

Kids can’t be propagandized if they are home schooled.
Lawyers as legislators have an automatic conflict of interest.
They are going to make laws that benefit lawyers. The more screwed up the law the more business at the courthouse it will generate.
That ‘guilty until proven innocent’ stuff was the line from Sen Chris Coons of Delaware during the Cavanaugh hearings. Another Schumer lapdog barking out of the short bus window.
Holy mackerel, I hate Iowa and Illinois. What is wrong with these people? Even the people in my conservative church are squishy on so many issues. They must be infected with the Minnesota “nice” virus.
