Lived in Colorado Springs....went the back way to ski
I wonder if the lift lines are a lot longer...
It breaks my heart what has happened to Colorado in the past two decades.
I lived there from the day I was born in 1968 until 2003. I recall the housing boom during the 1990s. It exploded and kept on exploding after I left. Today, it is a giant unending megapolis that stretches from Pueblo to Ft. Collins up the I-25 corridor and all the way to Vail west on I-70.
My boyhood home was a 1700 sq' 4-br a mile away from Columbine high school that my dad paid $55k for in 1977 and Zillow now values at a half million. People as far as the eyes can see.
My brothers still live there and one tells me a lot of the locals are getting out. They can't afford to live there anymore. One by one, his boyhood friends, all Colorado natives, are moving to South Dakota. He tells me that's where Coloradans who can't afford to live in Colorado anymore are.
And then I read articles like this and I want to punch her in the face:
The growth of our beautiful city has brought nothing but increased traffic, angry entitled transplants who have no respect, and a cost of living that is through the roof, the former Aurora resident said.''Nicole Parkin moved to Colorado from New Jersey in 2009, lured by a combination of beauty and affordability. On Friday night, she planned to start the long drive back, her Toyota Corolla loaded with personal belongings, a pet dog and a deep sense of resignation.
Arghh...
