Last week, a caravan of 1,800 Central American migrants arrived in this isolated Mexican border city, where police ushered them into a makeshift government shelter surrounded by chain-link fence.
As conditions at the shelter deteriorated, riots erupted. Migrants broke through security barriers and struggled with guards. Some threw pipes, tables, chairs and parts of a tent at Mexican officers. Migrant advocates and reporters were barred from the facility, which was surrounded by dozens of federal police in riot gear.
On the other side of the Rio Grande, in the sleepy town of Eagle Pass, Texas, 250 troops and scores of Border Patrol agents were sent to shore up defenses as President Trump vowed to stop this latest caravan.
For the moment, Trump appears to have gotten his way.
Tuesday, the shelter was closing, with all but one group of migrant family members sent to other, larger border cities, where prospects of entering the United States were little better.
The last 18 migrants would be allowed to seek asylum at the border bridge to Texas, officials said. Speaking through the shelter fence Tuesday, some said they had proof, including photos, that they were fleeing persecution. It wasn’t clear why they were chosen, while others were not allowed to reach the city’s two border bridges across the Rio Grande.
But a Honduran official said the overall group of 1,800 was simply too large for U.S. officials to process there.
U.S. officials have said they generally process 15 asylum seekers a day at Eagle Pass, but increased that to about 20 after the caravan arrived.

From this we gather that US immigration attorneys or immigrant advocates are coaching them to pose for photos with people beating and raping them in order to prove they're victims of persecution?
Sick beyond belief.
Enough.
POTUS can get the wall built — and he should — but unless/until this BS changes with asylum laws, sanctuary cities, e-Verify, etc., the migrant magnet will continue to function and we’ll have to deal with this over and over again.
Wall first though, and the rest of this can be dealt with in his second term.

The wall will not stop those applying for asylum
Those seeking asylum will increas to the point the wall is not really working as intended.
So long as the are democrats in the Senate, there can be no such change in the law. The only hope realistically is a SCOTUS ruling that the law usurps the presidential powers.
It will get worse and more violent and desperate. Mesico must be very motivated by something to be dispersing the invaders. They will get tired of this soon and start bashing heads way down south, I hope.
I wonder if we will see a dedicated and serious border fence between mesico and honduras before we see one between mesico and the US?
Process 20 asylum seekers a YEAR for those who just show up at our borders. Then deny them all.

there is no rational reason why, in this life, in this world, that America should be required to carry the burden of taking care of the entire rest of the world, when they are the cause of their own hellhole conditions because of their irrational mode of thought and their irrational world view
The preferable dealing with Honduras would be to send in the Marines and clean the place up.
Honduras is the reason for the national security emergency. There are lots and lots of precedents for sending in the Marines for far less security problems than those presently existing. Asylum is not required if there are no threats at home

It’s a cat & mouse game and the mice are multiplying at an alarming rate.
How? How would honduras be cleaned up, or guatemala, or el salvador or nicaragua? We don’t need another dependent state with a resident military police force. We just need to control our own borders.
And the mesican wall would be between mesico and guatemala not honduras. I forgot my despot central american chit hole country geography for a moment.

It’s time we consider illegal entry by any person who is a non Mexican citizen illegally entering the United States through the US Mexican border a defacto Mexican citizen with limited Mexican constitutional rights subject to their laws while transiting. As well as any Mexican citizen doing so. Subject to reciprocal citizen treatment a citizen of the United States receives in Mexico through the Mexican constitution on citizenship .
Besides being unable to vote one must also be a citizen to own land and Mexico is very restrictive about granting citizenship. Because of that a US citizen besides not being able to vote,and cannot have title in their name to any land property in Mexico. And until that is changed the US and the affected state should consider making that reciprocal.prohibiting citizens of Mexico or countries with similar restrictions from doing both voting and land ownership
The plain simple fact is that we can’t control our southern border. American law favors those claiming asylum. The wall does nothing to stop asylum claimers
If Honduras is put under American military governance, there can be no claims of asylum. Current law favors the entire Honduran polulation migrating here
Yet 15,000 illegal ALIENS will get into the country THIS MONTH.

under his terms.
