What the mainstream media won't show you: The Border Wall IS Being Built...

video at link

Looks like a construction project of a tall steel slatted fence in progress somewhere on the border.

Posted as a separate thread for Hoosiermama.

Look into the slush funds. Have seen them mentioned repeatedly lately . (Money not assigned to a specific project.)From what I’ve read (or heard on my new wifi TV) he will have more than enough money to complete the job and NANan will be unable to do anything to stop him. It will destroy her (by her own actions) and her party.

That qualifies as fence “repair”, which has been funded.

And, unfortunately right by some trees and a road on the Mexican side, so not that hard still to cross. But better than nothing, for sure.

Can you imagine the interest all that money is getting. I would guess a couple more miles could be built?!?!

“Look into the slush funds. (Money not assigned to a specific project.) From what I’ve read he will have more than enough money to complete the job”

I suspect that he knows how much is needed to do an effective job, and has had at least that much identified. It is just common sense.

There are so many legal and political factors to consider, and we don’t have the insight into the actual balances available, so the suspense is high. But there are many pots of money that might be tapped - especially in a declared emergency. A few billion potentially, just from Military construction accounts - maybe FEMA, Federal land sales, asset forfeiture from El Chapo or a hundred obscure Federal programs.

I really anticipate that money needs to start being spent (contracts awarded) over the next few months, to really get finished before the election, so something needs to break on funding soon. Maybe during the State of the Union Address.

I really expect to see more than $2.5 billion, because that was what VP Pence had negotiated before the shutdown. $5 billion would buy a really significant capability, that would permanently shift existing flows. $10 billion would be a “Moon Shoot” effort - probably more than we could eat without inducing some rapid growth problems, like shortages driving up prices. But that would basically do the job (maybe $5B/yr. for two years)

Really, even 2 or 3 billion will dig hard against the existing situation, and make the border cities safer long term. I’d be happy to see that.

What you see on cars is surface rust and not really that bad like a car that has been driven on salt roads. My bet is the steel is 3/8s to half inch thick and will take a long, long time for any rust to have any effect.

“Can you imagine the interest all that money is getting. I would guess a couple more miles could be built?!?!”

I am writhing with excitement and anticipation.

I suspect that Mick Mulvaney coming to be White House Chief of Staff is a good sign for being able to squeeze some money out the Federal Government. He has been studying it in detail for the last two years, as the head of the Office of Management and Budget, that oversees the whole Federal structure and budget. He, out of everyone, should have some idea where the bodies are buried.

They have known they were going to need a significant pile of funds around the mid-term point, all along. It takes a while to get everything ready for a big, complex project like this, and then they need to have a good bit of time to get a lot built, so this was always going to be the point where they needed to go into full scale construction.

BTW expect Mitch to push through multiple judicial appointments when the Rats are looking at squirrels. The slingshot is loaded.

Love the idea of the slingshot, we need it.

When I think about all this hoopla about getting some needed funds to build these barriers, just 5.7B from a 4 trillion dollar budget, it makes no sense. Especially since the primary job of the federal government is to protect those borders and control who comes in at any given time.

It’s really ridiculous when we remember Hillary managed to lose $6B as Sec of State and everybody just said ‘meh’; no big deal. Obviously that money went to pay offs and all kinds of nefarious CIA stuff.

The massive corruption in our own government is crazy.

Even if the funding of these projects to upgrade existing barriers happened before Trump got in office; it is no reason to stop. The price of construction never goes down; always up. Besides; crisis at the S. border.

And what would that be, Baggy?

I dare not say, goodman. But you know.

😉

I will say this, though. I admire how you've been defending Trump and his wall plan on the forum lately.

Good on ya. You have the right of it.

(Not that you need me to tell ya).

😃

They seem to have purchased the sections in bulk. Many are distributed along the way. Just keep those American steel mills hot & producing. (Great for the economy). Note the other structural project are not even mentioned — no competition in getting materials when needed !

I love that the biggest praise for the wall in the comments section at the link is from people with Hispanic names.
