There is no outside danger to news organizations in the U.S. There’s only danger from within the organizations themselves through poor reporting, poor credibility, bias, and outright lies that undercut their existence. There’s nothing wrong with a president or any citizen criticizing the press, especially when that citizen or citizens are under unfair attack. They act as though they are immune to this scrutiny.
Critical analysis and transparency are crucial for the press to stay robust and strong. It’s about time someone is holding them accountable.
