Several liberal Democrats are speaking out against the Trump administration's stance against Venezuelan socialist dictator Nicolas Maduro -- even describing the support for opposition leader Juan Guaido as a US backed coup -- despite bipartisan support elsewhere for the administration's actions.
The Trump administration announced last week that it was formally recognizing Guaido as the countrys legitimate leader, and this week announced billions of dollars in sanctions against Maduro and the state-owned oil company.
Republicans and some Democrats have backed Trumps move, noting the appalling human rights conditions in the country as well as the dire economic situation fueled by Maduros socialist policies.
But despite the deepening crisis under Maduro, some left-wing Democrats suggest the U.S. stance here is tantamount to America's support for right-wing Latin American dictators in the '70s and '80s. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., who ran in the 2016 Democratic presidential primary, criticized Maduro for wrecking the economy, attacking protesters and violating the constitution -- but expressed concern about U.S. actions.
However, we must learn the lessons of the past and not be in the business of regime change or supporting coups as we have in Chile, Guatemala, Brazil, and the Dominican Republic, he said in a statement. The United States has a long history of inappropriately intervening in Latin American countries; we must not go down that road again."

“Feel the Bern” just lost his most beloved dictatorship.
Again, so very telling when it comes to who/what democrats throw their support behind.
Its never in support of freedom, ever!!!
Of course, Mr. Moscow Honeymoon would criticize our efforts to stop communism in the Western Hemisphere.
I personally feel Venezuela should be left alone.
Chavez and Maduro were not alien invaders. They are Venezuelans and where (for the most part) chosen for the job.
The USA itself is in a perilous state. Having a constant socialist shit-show running 24/7 helps keep idiots like Sanders and AOC quiet, and might even sway the thinking of a few people who are tempted to support them.
Finally, when civil war comes to Venezuela and Maduro is publicly hung, it will mean Venezuela will be safe from socialism for at least 2 generations. Venezuela needs to reach that stage on its own.
And, of course, here we also have Democrat projection as the slo-mo coup against our duly elected President rolls on.
Sanctions are tolerable, but troop involvement should be avoided at all costs.
Russia, one of President Nicolas Maduro’s staunchest supporters, is reportedly owed billions by the Latin American nation. Russia has said it expects Venezuela to have problems repaying debt ahead of an upcoming payment on a Russian loan.
Russia also has extensive commercial interests in Venezuela, including state oil company Rosnefts partnership with Petroleos de Venezuela SA, a state company placed under sanctions Monday by the United States.
As long as we don’t form fake media companies and post fake news about Venezuela on Facebook, trying to stir up trouble. We all know that’s wrong and we should never do that.

Wise counsel.
There has been plenty of intervention in Central America for far less serious actions.
There should be no announcement. The Marines should just show up in Tegucigalpa Saturday morning.
It will not only be a Trump war on the Venezuelan Commies, it will be war against the Democrats.
War in Venezuela mean victory for Trump in 2020.
Especially Sean Penn and Danny Glover..........................
Sanctions are tolerable, but troop involvement should be avoided at all costs.
War in Venezuela = Trump Victory in 2020.
Its now official.....
The Democrat Party is FOR starvation.
Didn’t they just have an election and vote him out?
We knew that when Moochelle’s School Lunch Program was revealed.................
They had an election.
He won almost 70% of the vote............
