WashPost Ponders Impeachment, But Worries Trump's 'Core Supporters' Might Get Violent

Today, it is tempting to imagine that Trump’s impeachment and removal would take the country back to a saner, simpler time. This illusion ignores the enduring forces that brought Trump to power as well as the risks of impeachment itself...

[Jeffrey] Engel warns that impeachment “disrupts the American political landscape as few other events do, leaving scars for generations.” A failed impeachment drive could encourage the president’s most dangerous impulses, and even if it succeeds, impeachment only kicks out an offending leader, “it doesn’t fix the democratic decline that brought [him] to power,” [Laurence] Tribe and [Joshua] Matz remind.

Catch that? Once again, leftists think when they lose, it's a "democratic decline," not a Democratic decline. The next sentence:

“It doesn’t undo the havoc he wreaked while in office. And it doesn’t forestall the trauma of expelling him.” They worry that core supporters of the impeached leader would consider his removal “a gussied-up coup d’etat” and walk away from the American project, drift toward revolutionary politics or even commit violence — “especially if the ousted president refuses to depart gracefully and instead terrorizes the polity that rejected him.” And a graceful exit is hard to imagine under current management.

Yet not undertaking impeachment can be momentous as well.

Lozada concludes the piece by insisting Trump doesn't represent all the people, as if....Obama did??? Just because the Posties gushed over how "the sun glinted off his chiseled pectorals" didn't mean everyone did.

That’s a fact.

They d*mn well better be worried.
I, and many others, are sick and tired of being lectured, lied, and loathed by a group of folks who really are not even smart enough to be baristas.

A tipping point is coming.

Why would anybody get violent if the impeachment is legitimate?

I’d like to see Bikers for Trump surround WaPo headquarters and show those turds what real Americans think of their opinions.

I’d also like to see the Bikers pay a visit to Andrew Weissman’s home at 5:00 am and give him and his family a taste of their own medicine.

“especially if the ousted president refuses to depart gracefully and instead terrorizes the polity that rejected him.”

October 20, 2016:

And what will become of them if Trump loses the election?

Some fear there will be discord, even a revolution. But that is highly unlikely.

Many of them will simply retreat back into their cradle of discontent, and angrily watch from the sidelines as America moves full steam ahead.

Perhaps they will become permanently disillusioned with the political process and never vote again.

But in the end, they still will be forced to live with the decision of the majority. And so will Donald Trump.

Because that is how democracy works. And that's why America already is great.

I think that the Deplorables don't give a rip that Mueller has got more gunthugs than the SEALs who invaded Bin Laden's compound...

“...a saner, simpler time...”

Communism, fascism, nazism, Marxism, anarchism are NOT saner, simpler times, no matter how anyone slices & dices it.

"They” are walking back the impeachment talk. The excuse is lame but the effect is still “they” are having second thoughts about it. Good."

I respectfully disagree. Trump will be impeached with a good chance of removal from office. The tipping point was the GOP cave in the Senate to reopen the government. The only thing holding the Rats back is that they want to maximize the pain and embarrassment to Trump and his family. In my opinion, the fringe left would welcome violence.

Violent? If they were to even get a permit for a planned and legal protest march, Antifa and BLM would just show up and attack them. The police would be ordered to stand down, and anyone defending himself would be arrested.

Yet they don’t have the wherewithall to ask themselves why they think people might get violent.

First of all, I actually wouldn’t expect a lot of violence... unless the left’s goon & troll squads are unleashed into the inevitable demonstrations and marches that would occur. Yes, we probably have some crazies on our side too, but for the most part, the mentally ill, unhinged mass shooter types are usually left-wing loons.

People don’t rise up in protest and unrest over some doofus chump. They do it for a reason.

They really need more time really looking at what’s going on instead of dismissing half the country.

Nope. At that point what do we have to lose. Freedom is on borrowed time as it is. The ONLY reason we aren’t completely under the left’s thumb is 2A.

After removing Trump, they'd IMMEDIATELY pivot to getting the guns.

So we might as well give them the guns pre-emptively.

Lots of guns.

A failed impeachment drive could encourage the president’s most dangerous impulses ....

Just what "dangerous impulses" has Trump manifested since assuming the Presidency? Cutting taxes? Eliminating costly and unnecessary regulation? Removing the U.S. from pointless foreign wars? Attempting to achieve border control to ensure the sovereignty of the nation? How many times has he openly defied the federal courts who have arbitrarily poured cold water on the due exercise of his constitutional authority? None! This writer is delusional!

No need to worry. Leftists can pretty much bet on it happening.

Impeachment of President Trump will be the most egregious misuse of law in the history of the US. Only slightly less, were the suspension of the writ of habeas corpus during the civil war and the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII.

Did you notice the other two happened while wars were going on?
