Polar vortex plunge to bring 'brutally cold' air to Midwest with 'life threatening wind chills'
Fox News ^ | 27 January 2019 | Travis Fedschun

A surge of arctic air is about to bring parts of the Midwest the coldest temperatures in years by the middle of this week, as part of the polar vortex is set to blast the region with dangerously cold temperatures.

The National Weather Service said in its forecast discussion that a "potentially record breaking push" of Arctic air will inundate the Northern Plains and Great Lakes by Wednesday, bringing wind chills as low as -40 degrees in many locations.

"There's no mild way of saying it. Brutal cold is coming," the NWS' Chicago office said on Twitter.

Only life threatening if you’re too stupid to appreciate the danger.

So they will be blaming global warming for the cold weather, because the midwest never had cold winds coming down from the North before people started driving SUVs.

It’s all Trump’s fault, I tell ya all Trump’s fault. If he only believed in the hoax Gia wouldn’t be punishing Chicago.

Those kinds of temperatures are dangerous regardless of how “stupid” or smart someone is. Those folks are in for a rough time and you can’t think of anything better to do than insult them over an act of God?

Notice how weather reports no longer give the real temperature? No, that's not scary or exciting enough. Now it's always the wind-chill temps.

Wow! I’ll tell you what I would do if I was running a scam related to future weather patterns.

I would drop the term GLOBAL WARMING and use the term CLIMATE CHANGE in its place.

Wind chills of -40 probably happen a minimum of once a year in most of these areas.

And this blast is a long way from records:

1978:

Blizzard conditions affected most of Iowa on January 26-27, with snow blown by winds in excess of 50 mph into drifts as high as 13 feet and wind chill values dropping to as low as -70 F.

Most roads were closed including Interstate 35 as thousands of cars and trucks were stranded along the roadways and in ditches. Schools and businesses were closed across the state.

Further east the storm system produced record amounts of snow in parts of Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Michigan.

I would like to know the actual temperature as well. Wind chill means nothing to me since I’m not prone to standing in direct wind in sub-zero weather.

I remember it. We lived in Newport, Rhode Island, at the time. My mother, brother, and I sat in the kitchen, using the oven for heat, playing Monopoly, for days.
