Expanding on your thought - If he doesn’t give the SOTU in the House chamber, then he can assign the seating in whatever way he likes, I would think. He can put all those angel parents right behind him, the Covington kids, etc. Some active duty Marines, Clint Eastwood and the other paltry few from Hollywood.... and so on.

He can say that all of the Senators have to sit on one side and all of the Representatives have to sit on the other... He can make them double up on seats, if he wants. He can make sure the big bank of EMPTY Dem seats are front and center. This could be fun.

Wherever he chooses to hold the SOTU, I hope he surrounds himself with friendly faces and those who are truly appreciative to be there. And all the dirtbag commie dems can be denied entry so they won’t have the opportunity to disrupt.

Surround himself with the family members of those killed by illegal aliens and by ICE/Border Patrol agents.

That way he’ll have an audience in front of whom he’ll shine and be animated and inspired, rather than a more stoic and reserved setting like a solo address from the oval office.

Pelosi says she will bar and lock the door to the House.

There are ways of dealing with that...

It'll hold 100,000 people.

Ever try to park there?

From that 1 statement "he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper" he can choose the spot and adjourn congress if I read it right.

According to the plain language of that section, he may only adjourn Congress "in case of disagreement between [the Houses of Congress], with respect to the time of adjournment." Without such a disagreement, he has no power to adjourn Congress. The power to "convene" Congress is the power to call them out of recess, not to compel them to assemble at a specific time, and can only be exercised on "extraordinary circumstances," which almost certainly does not include his desire to give an annual state of the union address in person.

Also, the Constitution requires the President to give Congress "Information of the State of the Union." It does not require him to convey that information through an in-person speech, nor must Congress allow him to do so. Ultimately, no court is ever going to interpret any of this: Whether the President has discharged his duty to to give Congress information of the state of the union is a purely political question.

I agree the Kennedy Center is a great idea. They could could fill both the concert and opera halls with overflow in the main hall and huge screens on both millennial stages. A rooftop banquet would be a great finishing touch with fireworks of course.

She represents the people. And the people say she should honor the invitation.

How about Trump giving the speech with an empty desk and a gavel atop....right in back of Trump. Maybe even add a portrait of her.

Why is this so difficult? Just do it in the Senate chambers. And for optics, leave an empty chair where Nancy Pelosi otherwise would have sat had it been in the House.

>>Pelosi can’t just go to the White House and demand to be let in. Trump can’t do that to them either.

That’s not what separate and equal branches mean. It isn’t her property to deem what to do as she sees fit.

If there is a criminal act occurring in the House, does she have a say in whether or not to allow law enforcement (i.e. the executive branch) access? The answer is no. The same is true here.

Yes, actually.

But it was one fine summer day and I went on a stadium tour.

Awesome place. But yes. Parking is a nightmare during games and events.

I went last year to a game, took me half an hour just to find a parking space that didn’t charge over $200.

You miss the point

The point is that the Speaker does not have the power she claims over the Presidency

She is in effect a rpid dog that must be put down

"Just mail the damn thing in and be done with it."

No, the President has the right to communicate the SOTU speech to all Americans via national broadcast, especially to the people who support him. I want to hear what he has to say...not have to read it on some website. Don't let the Democrats manipulate control of the event. Sending it in is what they want him to do.

Why do you think the President has the right to communicate the state of the union speech to all Americans via a national broadcast? There's nothing to that effect in the Constitution. The Constitution obligates the President to provide "information" to Congress, not the public. It does not give the President the obligation or even the right to provide that information in the form of a speech, and certainly does not obligate any television networks to broadcast such a speech.

Anyway, we were better off before Wilson revived the practice of treating this straightforward Constitutional obligation as an excuse for the President to deliver a speech from the throne as if he was a king. I hope this opportunity is taken to kill off state of the union addresses for good.

I have family in Grand Prairie. There are a few parking secrets around, but there are some. Might as well take public transportation. It sucks, it takes hours as well, but it works.
