The Catholic Archdiocese of Baltimore issued a separate condemnation of the students, tweeting that they had shown disrespect toward a Native American elder.
The Archdiocese of Baltimore condemns the disrespect shown toward a Native American elder during the March for Life. Respect for life demands all are treated with dignity. ArchdioceseBaltimore (@archbalt) January 20, 2019
Without apologizing to the boys for its rash accusation, the Baltimore Archdiocese released a statement to clarify its earlier declaration, acknowledging that the circumstances of this confrontation at the Lincoln Memorial are now being reported as more complex and it will be the responsibility of school authorities, parents and others involved to determine the actual circumstances, responsibility and consequences.
For his part, Archbishop Joseph Kurtz of Saint Louis said he joined in condemning the actions of the Covington Catholic students towards Mr. Nathan Phillips and the Native American Community yesterday in Washington.
Despite the abundant new evidence exonerating the students from wrongdoing, as of this writing Archbishop Kurtz has not apologized for slandering the boys and his original statement is still on his website.

Then sue the living crap out of these robe clad evil pedos.
SUE THEM ALSO! SLANDER! LIBEL!! Whatever! STUPIDITY!
Shame on them. When you slander someone without cause, you are obligated to ask for forgiveness. These “leaders” are setting a very poor example for the students. If I were a parent, I would look for another school.
The kids are Native American. The other guy is an American Indian, but they all are Native Americans.
In plain English screw these politically correct asinine bishops and the vile deviants they shelter and protect.
You never apologize for PC-correct remarks and attitudes.
And you join with the mob in denouncing the villains of the day (ie, Columbus, Covington, etc.)
Those are the social rules, dontcha know...
Right behind letting others believe what boys say.
As Dennis Prager would say - they are more afraid of the editorial page of the New York Times than they are of God.
These pompous clerics on high should be showing a moral good example. What about standing up for what is right? If I were the parents, I would stand up for what is right and speak my mind directly to Archbishop Joseph Kurtz. A class action lawsuit will get his feathers in a ruffle.
A MESSAGE FROM OUCHTHATONEHURT TO THE DIOCESE OF COVINGTON
I condemn the actions of the Diocese of Covington towards Nicholas Sandmann and his classmates and chaperones specifically, and faithful Catholics in general, Jan. 18, after the March for Life, in Washington, D.C. I extend my deepest apologies to Nick and his family. This behavior is opposed to the Churchs teachings on the dignity and respect of the human person.
The matter is being investigated and we will take appropriate action, up to and including referral to Federal authorities for RICO violations in combination with other violations and sins of omission on the part of the Catholic hierarchy.
We know this incident also has tainted the entire witness of the March for Life and express our most sincere apologies to all those who attended the March and all those who support the pro-life movement.
Exactly....
I am Scots-Irish and Tsalagi mix...
Anyone born in America is “native” American...
I would also add that the only American Indian has ancestry from India...
I refer to the people here before European immigration (part of my ancestry) should refer to themselves as “tribal” people...
It is sad when the biggest national news story for days is that some guy got his feelings hurt by some high school kids.
This country has turned into the biggest group of pussies ever on the planet.
My wife takes the train and two buses to get to and from work everyday. The nasty and offensive things she sees the minorities do could fill a thousand books. She will never make the news.
Truth doesn't matter.
But they don’t condemn the rape of young boys by their homo priests.
The school website is down. And the Covington Diocese website is down. For “maintenance.”
Why would they? Not the catholic church I remember. And I’m not catholic. Mom and sis yes.
How Bergoglio of them.
