McConnell to call for vote on Trump’s protection of ‘Dreamers’
NY Post ^ | January 20, 2019 | Mark Moore

“The legislation that the majority leader will bring to the floor this week would both reopen the remaining portions of the government, fund disaster relief, fund border security and address immigration issues that both Republicans and Democrats would like to address — all in one bill,” Don Stewart, McConnell’s deputy chief of staff, told the New York Times in an interview.

McConnell aims to put pressure on Democrats who have said they will not negotiate with Trump on his wall until the government reopens.

Stewart said the legislative package would include seven appropriation bills that would fund agencies that have been closed for 30 days.

He said McConnell hopes to see the package passed by Friday so that the government could reopen and federal workers could get a scheduled paycheck.

“betrayal”

Then rail loud and long about Trump the traitor. Work against him. If someone betrays me I hate them, want them hurt, you too, right?

Kabuki extreme.. instead of rewarding Mexico n central America with 10 Billion additional taxpayer dollars, we could have had 2X the wall. Instead we have folk leading our country that can subtract 5 fom 10. Fake shutdown to push amnesty.
Your kids go without, but non citizens get special privileges.

Except in that scenario the narrative is “Trump vetoed DACA. He’s a meanie!”

That’s the least likely scenario.

Calm down, there’s zero chance the Dems will pass this bill in the House.

This is all a carefully-orchestrated move by President Trump, who already knows the Dems are boxed-in. By forcing a vote, he makes them go on record as being against helping the Dreamer kids.

Latino voters are quietly paying attention.

That’s the problem with negotiating against yourself.
What happens when you win?

It is the Legislative Branch, RATs and RINOs alike who do not work to protect our citizens.

Perhaps some furloughed bureaucrats should begin stalking those legislators and interrupting their restaurant meals, or something.

All except for that "fund border security" part, of course. But the Demagogic Party leadership will just pour more gasoline on themselves and light a match.

Trump gets his way, regardless. Trump can build the Wall as a matter of national emergency. He is building portions of it right now. Winning.

He can do this and still keep the (D)'s feet to the fire for the 5.7 Billion, meaning, until the (D)'s agree to spend the money designated specifically for the wall the (D)'s are the party who really own the government shut-down.

Trump owns the security high ground, as he builds the wall and as he holds out for the (D)'s to appropriate money for the wall.

While (D)'s delay, their local constituency in DC (who no one else except for Metro DC cares about) start yelling at Steny Hoyer (D-MD) and Steny is beginning to crack ... "The Wall is not immoral ..."

Trump holds all the cards, and for him it is win-win: Congress votes for the wall = (D)'s lost the pissing match. (D)'s fail to vote for it = gov't remains shut, DC's Federal termites continue to go unpaid and are soon on the verge of riot, and the (D)'s go on fighting with each other internally, until they surrender any way.

Meanwhile the wall gets built anyway.

Brilliant brinksman-ship.

Well-played Mr. President.

“By forcing a vote, he makes them go on record as being against helping the Dreamer kids.”

That would be a plus for the dems in my book. There is no upside to this dog and pony show. The propaganda press will ALWAYS fault Trump and cover for the treasonous rats.

If Trump doesn’t declare a national emergency and BUILD THE GD WALL in a few months, he’s going to lose more of his base. And in case people have missed it, Trump’s fate and America’s fate are inextricably intertwined.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell will call for a vote on President Trump’s offer to protect certain immigrants in exchange for $5.7 billion for his wall, but he will combine the proposal with legislation passed by House Democrats to fund closed government agencies, a report on Sunday said
