Clyburn: If You Preface Statement With "If This Is True" That Gives You All The Cover You Need
RCP Video ^ | 1-20-2019 | Tim Hains

House Majority Whip James Clyburn defends Democrats who jumped on Thursday's Buzzfeed story that was debunked by special counsel Robert Mueller's office by noting that they all qualified their statements with, "if this is true."

"When you preface your statement with 'if this is true,' that, to me, gives you all the cover you need," Clyburn said on FOX News Sunday. "If they had said something as if it were true, then that would be one thing to be concerned about, but they've all said, 'if this is true.'"

(snip)

REP. JAMES CLYBURN: Well, Chris, when you preface your statement with 'if this is true,' that, to me, gives you all the cover you need. And I would say that. If it is true -- now, if they had said something as if it were true then that would be one thing to be concerned about, but they've all said if this is true. There are a lot of things that I hear daily. If it were true I would be concerned about it.

Sometimes, you would preface it with that and sometimes you just don't say anything.

So I don't think that my Democratic friends in any way rushing to judgment because the qualified right upfront, if this is true.

Is would be bad enough if the dishonest media and politicians PREFACED their no-evidence comments with “if this is true”, but many statements put the qualifying phrase AFTER the no-evidence statement. This way, the statement is first into the reader’s brain without the qualifier, which he may or may not ever see or hear. Sometimes it’s even left off of a headline.... not enough space doncha know.

The video cuts off before Wallace can reply.

I did hear a long pause after the Clymer spoke, then Wallace starts to say something, then the video cuts off.

Was Wallace too dumbfounded to immediately say anything or did he just let him off the hook?

I’d love to ask that ignorantly arrogant NITWIT in public & before media cameras, “If it is true that you sexually molest little boys, would asking that question cause your reputation to be damaged?”

Your comment makes you LOOK LIKE a CLUELESS FOOL.
(Of course, given that you’re a DIMocRAT extremist, that’s true of you.)

Yours, TMN78247

>>> Are there ANY black democrats in congress with an IQ above 70?

Are there ANY democrats in congress with an IQ above 70?

Pity that above average IQ is not a qualifier for running for Congress, as long as they can get votes.

Case in point, AOC. She “talks/tweets good” using the current fad words, but completely no intelligence, esp. in regards to subjects concerning her college major.

Tweeted this to his account: “Someone told me you have pictures of naked little girls on your phone....if this is true, shame on you.
Is that how you mean the phrase “if this is true” provides cover for any lies?”

There’s no evidence but if Joe Biden shook down the Chinese for millions of dollars for his son’s company - it would be a big story... (Well if the press hated democrats the way they hate conservatives)

If Chuck Todd killed his father and had sex with his mother it would be a big story even if there’s no evidence - well as long as we had a corrupt press with an anti-liberal agenda - chick we don’t.

If the Clintons and democrats had a falling out with Putin during the Obama Administration over graft payments it would be a big story if the press was willing to run with a stroy based on rumors - and nothing more... the way they do with Republicans.
