There's nothing wrong with open borders

The internet expands the bounds of acceptable discourse, so ideas considered out of bounds not long ago now rocket toward widespread acceptability. See: cannabis legalization, government-run health care, white nationalism and, of course, the flat-earthers.
Yet theres one political shore that remains stubbornly beyond the horizon. Its an idea almost nobody in mainstream politics will address, other than to hurl the label as a bloody cudgel.
Im talking about opening up Americas borders to everyone who wants to move here.
Imagine not just opposing President Trumps wall but also opposing the nations cruel and expensive immigration and border-security apparatus in its entirety. Imagine radically shifting our stance toward outsiders from one of suspicion to one of warm embrace. Imagine that if you passed a minimal background check, youd be free to live, work, pay taxes and die in the United States. Imagine moving from Nigeria to Nebraska as freely as one might move from Massachusetts to Maine.

And just how many people would move from the US to Zimbabwe ? Ya moron. We would be swamped with people outstripping all our resources. You are not fit to write children’s poems. Btw - Zimbabwe just blocked Facebook and Twitter throughout the country ya ding bat.

Open borders and legal entry are two different animals. Dope.

I respond that this is not a good reply, since my progressive acquaintances would welcome ending the US as we know it.
That might be true. But, several things will occur following the destruction of the U.S.
Revolution, to undo the idiotic socialism-communism.
Progressives/socialists/communists leaving the country, because, their Utopia would cease to function from lack of wealth to fund their social programs.
Progressives/socialists/communists getting kicked out of the country before they get to fully destroy the country. I'm going with this last consequence, because, people will begin to see the misery and will come to their senses. But, that could be a long way off. The consequences of socialism and communist take a long time to notice, since, a rich country could maintain parts of socialism for a long time before the wealth starts dwindling, and businesses and jobs start getting destroyed. Socialism and communism are self-destruction ideologies, and there are people who refuse to learn from the lessons of history.

Altered Carbon does not realize they have morphed out of being a Democrat...using their brain. You see, there IS hope in our world!

All true. And most of my progressive acquaintances would be the first against the wall if they got what they want.

Don't you mean, 'for the wall'?

Imagine an America with absolutely open borders...
... and absolutely ZERO governmental welfare.

First against the wall. Allusion to fellow-travelers being first executed before even open enemies of socialism are executed.

Wrong wall. This one also comes with a blindfold and a cigarette. Get my drift?
