GOP rep: 'Rand Paul is giving the president bad advice' on Afghanistan and Syria

Freshman Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) is criticizing Sen. Rand Paul, saying the Kentucky Republican gave President Trump "bad advice" when he suggested that the U.S. declare victory in Afghanistan and Syria.

"There are those of us who have sacrificed for our nation, who know the importance of this terrorist threat and the need to stay vigilant," tweeted Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL, on Wednesday. "We go there so that they don’t come here. It’s that simple."

Crenshaw, who wears an eyepatch due to an injury sustained in combat, was responding to a tweet from Paul in which the senator said he has "never been prouder" of Trump.

This is just to prove that I'm not just a pro-Rand shill.. I will occasionally balance it out for Freepers. Everyone is allowed a different opinion and its good that we can debate.

G-d is everyone in the military a globalist perpetual war for perpetual peace type. What is simple is not to bother with the woes of less happy lands to start with. If they do attack you make reprisal so ferocious they will shiver at your name or a long, long time.

I know, I spent decades around the military and I was amazed at the number of officers who were truly offended at my ‘crush the bast*rds and then crush them some more’ attitude about war fighting. That to me was very troubling.

As Rand argued this morning on Fox and Friends... until WHEN?
Is the Middle East going to be any more stable five years from now? Ten? Twenty? A thousand?

And what ever happened to the idea of supporting your President and trusting his instincts (which he’s shown over and over again are SPOT ON, both with what’s right and with public opinion)?

I liked Crenshaw until this.

The freshman Crenshaw may turn out to be the GOP version of AOC.

The Uniparty is all for global empire. They will bankrupt the USA and destroy our culture with multiculturalism and fascism.

How about instead of having a decades long occupation of shithole Afghanistan, simply ban anyone from Af-Pak from entering the USA. problem solved.

There are reports that a lot of new congresscritters are CIA. I know Crenshaw in a Navy SEAL, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he were also CIA. Seems like a globalist who likes constant unending war.

Advice to Trump about muslims Rules of Engagement (ROE) is simple. 1) All infidels will be taxed, enslaved, or killed if they don’t convert 2) when the Kafir are conquered the Sunni sect will turn on the Shia sect 3) are you an infidel? In other words, containing Islam in the Middle East denies the first rule as the Kafir can easily avoid the area. Removing US Forces from the Middle East denies them the second ROE. It’s really that simple. Removing muslims embedded here will be a different matter due to their practice of taqiyya, or lying to promote Islam.

Tens of thousands of dead and wounded American military men and women. Trillions of dollars spent and it’s still a mess over there. The Muslims are still fighting the Crusades against us. Nation building and trying to make them democracies has been a disaster. You can’t turn Muslims who subjugate women and practice a dictatorial and destructive religion that hates all outsiders, Christians and Jews into freedom loving people who want change. That’s the point. They don’t want to change. The western powers should of never got involved in creating the Middle East in the aftermath of WWl. It’s been one hundred years of chaos and destruction!

This has nothing globalism. It's a fact that Al Qaeda and ISIS killed Americans and became threats to this country and US interests abroad. And, another terrorist group will do the same thing if we leave Afghanistan. Staying is putting America first.

There is no differnece between Paul and Obama on foreign policy. He's a dove and isolationist.

"We go there so that they don’t come here. It’s that simple."

...and that STUPID. Perhaps THE DUMBEST 'motto' ever uttered.

They came here because WE LET the 9/11 hijackers come here, with our wide open visa program. We let them STAY here despite the fact that 70% of the 19 had their visas EXPIRE, yet NOT ONE was ever contacted by authorities. WORSE still, 3 of the hijackers with expired visas were DETAINED for traffic offenses...and RELEASED without any checks on their visas. Mohammed Atta himself was not checked after speeding because it was in Palm Beach county which had "sanctuary city" polices against it. We did nothing about the insane number of Muslims taking FLYING lessons -- despite multiple complaints by staff, including the suspicious "we don't need to learn how to land" quips from 2 of them -- because no one wanted to "racially profile."

IF WE HAD 1 MILLION TROOPS in Afghanistan and Syria, how would it have changed what WE DID TO OURSELVES??

We should be a lot more careful where we send our troops because according to the neo-cons once we’re in a country we are never supposed to leave. How long should our troops stay in syria and afg? What is the criteria for victory? What is the strategy? Is there any strategy for success? In 10 or 20 years would the arguments for staying have changed? I’m tired of unending, unwinnable wars. We need to secure our own borders and fix our own bridges and highways.

Tens of thousands of dead and wounded American military men and women.

Worst attack on US soil and thousands of lives lost. The culprit, not a nation but a terrorist group.

And, in 2016, Trump largely won by pledging to destroy ISIS and rebuilding our military because Obama had let ISIS become a national security threat.

Going to and remaining in Afghanistan never had a thing to do with globalism.

Donald Trump was elected by people who are tired of living in a country run by a Sunni Islamic government. This guy Crenshaw better get with the program.

Lindsey Graham is now a Trump fan, Hillary Clinton is in a mental institution, John McCain is in the ground ... and that globalist "neo-con" rag The Weekly Standard is out of business.

MAGA.

Secure the borders and make sure only decent people come into the country - exclude middle easterners. If we had done that, 9/11 would not have happened.

They came here because WE LET the 9/11 hijackers come here

That was Clinton's fault. But, the hell were we supposed to do after 9/'11? Let it slide and not bring Bin Laden and Al Qaedas to justice?

And, you seem to forget one of the big reasons Trump won the primary -- peace through strength an destroying ISIS.

There is no chance that ignoring the Islamic terrorist threat will make it go away. Obama tried that and it was a disaster.

Bullshit. A top priority of the 9/11 Commission was to "immediately" implement a strict Entry/Exit Visa system, and background checks. Neither George W. Bush nor Obama did one damn thing to implement one. The San Bernardino jihadist went through such a massive crack. 15 dead.

They also called for tight integration of intelligence. The FBI, DOD and DHS either failed or willfully ignored intel warnings about the terrorists who carried out Ft. Hood (Al-Awlaki), Boston Marathon (Russia, Israel warnings) and Orlando (Al-Awlaki link, FL Sheriff warning to FBI, Disney warning to FBI).

What the hell are 2,000 troops in Syria or thousands more in Afghanistan going to do to prevent such attacks in the future?
