Seven Democratic lawmakers, including newly elected freshmen, have arrived at the White House ready to ask President Donald Trump to reopen the government while talks continue over border security.
It's the first group of rank-and-file Democrats to meet with Trump during the shutdown, which stretched into its 26th day Wednesday. The White House has been trying to peel lawmakers away from Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (puh-LOH'-see), but invitations to Democrats earlier this week were declined.
Those arriving Wednesday for the midday meeting in the Situation Room included five freshmen, several of whom did not back Pelosi as speaker. They represent areas where Trump remains popular. They're from a bipartisan group called the Problem Solvers Caucus.
Ahead of the meeting they wrote there is "strong agreement that if we reopen the government, the possibility exists to work together and find common ground."
Trump is seeking $5.7 billion for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, but Pelosi opposes the wall.

Actually, it won't. The Left is so anti-American that they would immediately go about the process of undermining any wall.
One of the things you learn from President Trump’s books is that he attempts to set up situations that are win-win for him. Either way it goes, Trump wins. He is not adverse for the deal to be good for the other side, but he rarely makes that the prime consideration.
This appears to be one of those situations. His team has really planned this out in advance. It’s almost as if he has the Deep State under continuous surveillance.
What shutdown?
Pelosi might be sending the newbies over because she’s too chickenshit and doesn’t want to lose face in public.

She shoulda made a deal. But her history of being a ball buster to the House members just got in the way and she couldn’t discern that Trump isn’t a normal person who can be cowed or lied to.

If you ever worked in the construction/real estate business as I did in NYC back in the 70’s and 80’s you learned quick who and what kind of guy Donald Trump was. He plays hard ball, all the way. He’ll twist your arm with a smile on his face until he gets what he wants.. As people in the industry used to say “Don’t f*** wit dis guy!’’

I know that the young progressive wing has the Dems in a twist. They really don’t know if it’s raining or Tuesday. I think the Dems believe the public doesn’t want a wall, contrary to every poll out there.
If the old witch had made a deal, she could have taken the stage, taken her dementia meds, and touted the deal as: “the way “adult Dems” could work with this man-child president.”
Opportunity lost, and there are cracks showing in the Dem obstruction wall. I’d be thrilled with a pitchfork and torch brigade visiting every Dem politician home.
Not at all. The Dems’ problem is that they have spent decades serving the interests of the elitists (organized crime). They don't know how to change and do the right thing. Nancy Pelosi is worth $30-100 million. Think she got that by serving the citizens?
This isn’t going to go the way it’s always gone before. Living in a bubble of your own biases isn’t going to work this time.
We elected POTUS to do exactly this.
