Seven Democratic lawmakers, including newly elected freshmen, have arrived at the White House ready to ask President Donald Trump to reopen the government while talks continue over border security.
It's the first group of rank-and-file Democrats to meet with Trump during the shutdown, which stretched into its 26th day Wednesday. The White House has been trying to peel lawmakers away from Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (puh-LOH'-see), but invitations to Democrats earlier this week were declined.
Those arriving Wednesday for the midday meeting in the Situation Room included five freshmen, several of whom did not back Pelosi as speaker. They represent areas where Trump remains popular. They're from a bipartisan group called the Problem Solvers Caucus.
Ahead of the meeting they wrote there is "strong agreement that if we reopen the government, the possibility exists to work together and find common ground."
Trump is seeking $5.7 billion for a U.S.-Mexico border wall, but Pelosi opposes the wall.

Trump again has them where he wants them.
If the shutdown goes until Monday, he tells the chiefs of non-essential workers to start laying off thousands of employees.
If Nancy gives in and 5billion goes to the wall, the rabid Dem left freaks out and the Dem party implodes.

I’m glad the phonetically spelled Pelosi, I wouldn’t have known otherwise. I wish they had included the names of the 7 Dims.
All well, and good, BUT these seven don’t have Pelousy in their back pocket, therefore they are simply gassing up the hallways.
IF no Pelousy, no deal, but nice to know there are some who will work to get this thing resolved.
The other thing is they are approaching with open government, THEN we talk about securing the border. NO DEAL as that’s what the Democrats pulled on Reagan. The Democrats are liars, therefore we get the wall funding FIRST, and up front.

The SEIU has to be screaming at her. Imagine if Trump gets rid of 100,000 workers after Monday. Imagine how many millions that could mean in SEIU money.

It's more likely that Nancy is fine with this and that the seven Democrats are doing this for show, so that they can get reelected in two years.
Notice that it's only seven, and seven votes swinging to the R side won't change anything.
