Certainly valid points. I'm trying to stay positive, though.
I root for just about anything that would pull us back from watering the tree of liberty....

I’m with you in spirit. Trump has been a breath of fresh air for us, but I have to admit to being very disappointed that he backed off on his promise to release the FISA docs. Those docs are the Rosetta Stone that would expose the players and ploys of what is the most dangerous threat to our democracy this country has ever seen. The plotters not only attempted to subvert a presidential election, they also continued to undermine a duly elected president. All done through the abuse of sensitive government resources.

In my opinion, nothing could be more important than exposing such treason. The citizens need to know what went on. The Deep State needs to be exposed and punished so it never happens again. Our intelligence agencies, Justice Department, and other trusted departments need to know they are held to the highest standards and are accountable to the American people. Alas, none of that is happening.

A great opportunity was lost. All because a few documents continue to be withheld from the public. Corruption won the day.

But we already know what's in them. It's all laid out in the spygate document: https://www.theepochtimes.com/spygate-the-true-story-of-collusion_2684629.html

If people haven't read and understood that by now, they probably won't be pursuaded by the official FISA docs with essentially the same information. In the end it's a fourth amendment problem through abuse of the state spying apparatus. That can only be fixed with a reset or perhaps political compromise which the dems don't want.

Most people will never read them. That is why Trump should have used the bully pulpit to release and summarize them during an address to the nation from the White House (which is what he did in his Wall speech). That is the only way most people will become aware of the treasonous acts committed against the country.

Trump should also have used the occasion to clean house at the FBI and DOJ and serve notice to the intelligence community that those who engage in the unauthorized use of intelligence tools will be held accountable. This was a golden opportunity to expose the cabal...and most importantly, the right thing to do. The truth shall set you free as they say.

How is just asking a question translate into being "offended"? Wow, WTF.

The FISA docs could have been the impetus to legitmately fire a bunch of people, but despite Trump’s rhetoric, the reality is the opportunity was lost.

And you're absolutely certain of that, how exactly? What insight to Trump's strategy are you privy to that would indicate that would be the certain outcome? Remember, all institutions that would be relied upon for enforcement are co-opted and run by the left. You are assuming a specific conclusion to a situation that is yet still in motion, driven by dynamics you do not know about.

It would be great if Trump would take this opportunity to reduce the civilian workforce but he passed on the last one and likely isn’t going to be pairing down the bureaucracy anytime soon.

There are mechanisms involved that address that, with or without Trump. He doesn't have to 'do' anything really. An exodus out of Fed employment is already underway - people have bills to pay, a certain level of lifestyle they are accustomed to and the shutdown accompanied by a lot of scary rhetoric is encouraging various bureaucrats to head to the hills of private sector employment. The trickle may become a flood the longer the shutdown goes on.

You are vastly overestimating the LIVs (that includes so-called independents). Like I said, they have had ample opportunity to educate themselves. The speech by Trump will be immediately followed by two weeks of rebuttal and propaganda and they will end up just as undecided as they are today.

I agree that the issue of fourth amendment violations, sedition, etc are extremely important. Although Hillary's hire, Steele, conspired with some Russians to produce some of the crap used for the FISA warrant, that is not "treason". What would be treason is if Strzok is a double agent (the jury is out) or something along those lines.

In short, there's the reset option which I believe is inevitable anyway in the long run. Or the reform option which may help postpone the need for a reset. The reform is not going to come from a Trump speech inspiring the LIVs. It can only come from brave politicians sticking their necks out to do the reform. Those don't exist in either party, for the most part.

Ed Koch never forgave him for fixing that skating rink, either. Serve the public? Doesn’t he know anything about government?

Can you provide a credible source/statistic that the exodus of federal employees is already underway? I would really like to see the underlying facts and data to back your statement up.

Federal employees and bureaucrats are, by and large, very attached to their jobs and benefits. They are not the kind of people who are inclined to leave the cocoon they work in to seek a position in the demanding culture of private industry. Granted, some feds may be willing to take that chance but they would be the ones with real skills, some ambition and the confidence to head off into uncharted waters.

An exodus is unlikley in my opinion but I can be persuaded differerently if evidence exists to support it.

Well, he could do it with the justification that Democrats refuse to negotiate, and these families are going without pay, with this move they will now be able to collect unemployment benefits...

But I really don’t think that’s how this is going to play out.. but it is an interesting theory
