A Transportation Security Administration employee checks in travelers at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Jan. 7. (John Bazemore/AP) By Faiz Siddiqui January 13 at 11:17 PM A passenger made it through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint with a gun on Jan. 2, boarding a Delta Air Lines flight at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and flying to Tokyo, authorities said Sunday.

TSA confirmed the incident in a statement Sunday night but denied it was related to callouts stemming from the government shutdown, as hundreds of airport screeners are working without regular pay.

“TSA has determined standard procedures were not followed and a passenger did in fact pass through a standard screening TSA checkpoint with a firearm,” the agency said of the incident. “TSA has held those responsible appropriately accountable.”

They just had to throw in that part about the government shutdown.

But yet we have heard that TSA personnel are quitting their jobs and calling off because of the shutdown.

I think they ought to privatize it.

I’m surprised that they didn’t take the opportunity to blame it on the shutdown...

They’re trying to but they can’t - although the funding bills were being held up by then government employees were still getting their paychecks until last week.

Note also that the absences that day - 5% - were the normal absence levels.

So they soene paragraphs talking about the shutdown but in reality it has nothing to do with it and the TSA majorly screwed up.

Ain’t buying it.

I will bet money that was staged to ‘scare’ the public into pressuring the President to give in to the Dems.

I have stated in the recent past - watch out for a false flag to blame on President Trump.

LE agencies test for prohibited items through TSA screening. The pass rate is not great. I’m sure the inspector General of the TSA has all the facts.

Democrats are willing to risk the lives of American citizens AND start their base and furloughed workers so they can keep the borders open to cheap labor and new ‘voters’..

Shame on them.

But a young woman with pumped breast milk, for her young baby...is detained and harassed for a long, long time...

Would not put it past the TSA....to stage the gun thing.

Trump should pull a Reagan...and fire all the TSA employee's....and make it private.

I fly somewhat frequently and haven’t pulled out my bag of toiletries for several years.

I have a nylon strap belt with a nylon buckle. I got it mostly to wear when flying so there’s one less thing to take off.

TSA is largely a workforce of “drones” who needed jobs. Sharp as bowling balls.
