... Amid Ginsburg Health Woes.
... Sen Graham told "Fox News Sunday" that he is "hell-bent" on ensuring that the next Supreme Court vacancy -- whether it is ailing Justice Ginsburg's seat or otherwise -- is filled by a conservative, regardless of what outrage follows from the left.
Graham, the new chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee,... "My Democratic colleagues felt when they were in charge we should confirm judges by a majority vote," ... "They changed the rules to accommodate President Obama. They tried to stack the court. They never thought Clinton would lose. So what youre gonna have is Harry Reids and Chuck Schumers desire to stack the court on their Democratic watch has come back to haunt them." [snip]
"Every Democrat that I've worked with for about 10 years now has agreed to funding for barriers/walls ... and all of a sudden it's a bad thing on Trump's watch," ... "What's [Trump] supposed to do, just give in? He's not gonna give in."
Graham concluded with his own possible last-minute fix to the partial federal government shutdown, ...
"I would urge him to open up the government for a short period of time, like three weeks, before he pulls the plug," Graham said. "See if we can get a deal. If we cant at the end of three weeks, all bets are off. See if he can do it by himself through the emergency powers. Thats my recommendation. But I think the legislative path is just about shut off because Nancy Pelosi said Even if you open up the government, Ill give you one dollar for the wall. As long as thats the case, were never gonna get a legislative package, no matter what the Senate does."

And therein lies one of the great weaknesses of libertarians and the Libertarian Party; too damned many of them are purists.
No need to reopen the government. It is time to tell those federal workers to clean out their desks. And that due to the actions of democrats they will not be made whole. Take off the kit gloves.
“So long as it happens before grahams next election we’re probably safe. I may support his current position but I will never trust him. Too much history there.”
Indeed, that has been his track record. As with many of the six year cicada-like Republican squishes, moderates for about four and one-half to five years, then emerge as “conservatives” for year six.
Maybe Grahamnesty really has changed after the demise of McCainiac. Maybe not.
That's the money line from your link
The new and improved Lindsey emerged with the death of his handler. Keep up the good work Senator.
“The standard libertarian position is that the person who agrees with you 99 percent of the time is a 100 percent traitor.”
That also seems to be a standard with many conservatives who SIT OUT ELECTIONS (or vote Libertarian) because the Republican is only with us 99% of the time, not 100%.
...and they think that is a way to “teach the Republicans a lesson”, when it is instead perceived by Republicans that they need to run a more ‘moderate’ candidate next time, to have a chance at winning.
Dude, I feel your pain. I live in occupied King County, WA.
Keep the government shut down until the court cases are decided.
Keep the government shut down, so the Dems in Congress can’t pay or hire staffers to investigate and harass Trump.
McCain’s passing ended up being a Net+2 conservative Senators. Kyl, his replacement, and Lindsey Graham.
Sounds good, but Lindsey does not pick the nominee,if President Trump picks another Bush favorite like Kavanaugh,he will have to support him, or her, everyone thought Roberts was a conservative,I have my doubts about Kavanaugh,we will see
Take off the kit gloves. And once the kit gloves are taken off, take off the kid gloves as well.
He would be wise to issue rules for the committee. Three weeks before the hearing is the deadline for dirt on a nominee. No last minute Anita Hills or Blasey Fords. No screamers in the gallery. No screamers in the building. No interruptions from senators disputing process minutiae during hearings.
He talks the talk, the rest, we'll see.
The dem house will fight any nomination tooth and nail.
And I hate to say it, once the impeachment trials start most of the GOP will go along.
Oh come on Lindsey - Democrats agreed to money for a barrier because they knew it would NOT happen and it would play well with their gullible constituents. YOU know that Lindsey...
What Democrats wanted in all these bills was amnesty for illegals already here... (they've been playing this scam since Reagan was President and Republicans fall for the BS each time. )
Do a little research - see how many illegals have been made into citizens with each of those 'comprehensive' reform BS bills.
"Comprehensive" meant that one side got security and the other side got new voters... except OUR SIDE WAS NEVER GIVEN SECURITY AND DEMOCRAT'S SIDE ALWAYS GOT AMNESTY.
Still pushing that unsubstantiated story... amazing.
I get what you’re saying about Graham’s trustworthiness, and I might be more inclined to agree except that his post-McCain transformation has been so profound; he’s a whole new man since then.
I mean it’s like he’s had some sort of core-level personal revival.
In the face of that, I want to encourage that it continue by cheering this new tone.
