If the BP is embedded, then you get into the military not being part of the BP, the BP using the military without an explicit authorization, yada, yada, yada. All sorts of legal contortions will follow.

Let the military train and patrol the same way they do elsewhere already with no connection to the BP. If they need the BP they know how to contact them.

Embedding BP is not controversial at all. In fact the Navy does it all the time. When doing drug interdiction on the open sea the Navy embeds Coast Guard Officers( in peace time they don't work for the DOD ) on Navy ships. Naval Officers cannot arrest anyone in international waters because it is considered an act of war but Coast Guard officers can arrest. So they assign one CG officer per ship when doing those ops. So yada yada yada you have it all wrong.
