...

That heavy reliance on federal spending has Huntsville residents wondering what will come next.

Jack Lyons, a lifelong space geek who thought he’d hit the jackpot when he got a job as a contractor working on massive rocket test stands for NASA, is spending the furlough on his small side business making props for marching bands. A solid Republican voter until 2016, when he couldn’t bring himself to vote for Trump, he’s frustrated and saddened by what’s going on in Washington.

“They’re trying to use people as bargaining chips, and it just isn’t right,” Lyons said. Unlike civil service workers who expect to eventually get back pay, Lyons doesn’t know if he’ll ever see a dollar from the shutdown period.

So all these people care about is their own bottom lines. To hell with the country.

So much for lives, fortunes, and sacred honor.

Note to the folks refusing to put their country first: A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take it all away. Next time, plan accordingly.

Pretty much why there will never be a large-scale civil war from the Right. Most put personal & family lifestyle head of any sacrifice for the good of the country.

My answer for why the FBI has become so corrupt and worthless.
They loved their pensions more than country.

you mean some people might actually have to borrow some money? (gee.. how novel...its not like USA is lacking in debt....)

ps: maybe they will wise up and “save some money for rainy days”... I mean, even rodents (squirrels, etc.) are smart enough to do this

This story is a blatant lie. My husband works for the DOD as a contractor, and he is being paid, by his employer, because the DOD is already fully funded, and his employer, a contractor based in Michigan, has already been paid!

I am always amazed at the “ solid Republican “ voters who just happen for the MSM benefit to have just changed. The guy is a liar, a moron or both.

Considering their direct deposit would not have arrived until today it seems they are cutting it pretty close if they are already borrowing money.

But getting a short term loan to ensure plenty of cash in hand is not a bad idea since they know they can pay it off as soon as they receive their back pay in a couple of weeks.

No, NASA is not DOD.

DOD, and its contractors, were all funded middle of 2018. NASA is indeed currently on "shutdown".

He’s a government contractor, for crying out loud.

He knew this was coming.

Article states...”In Alabama city, residents are taking out personal loans just to get by”.....

Well that’s what you do in a “crisis”....when businesses close, when companies strike, when fired or laid off...that’s what you do if you’re not prepared.
