...saying that he and Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) made an "explicit commitment" to avoid such votes. "The last thing we need to do right now is trade pointless - absolutely pointless - show votes back and forth across the aisle," McConnell said. Under Senate rules, any senator can try to force a vote or pass a bill, but any one senator can block them... McConnell has pledged that he will not bring up a bill that Trump doesn't support.
But McConnell objected, arguing they would be “show votes” and saying that he and Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) made an “explicit commitment” to avoid such votes.
Hilarious to see Schumer stab Doormat McConnell in the back.

You are dwelling in past Free Republic dogma.
Your dogmatic critiism of Mitch is not warranted
That democrat idea cracks me up. “Open the rest of the government, then we can address the wall separately”.
That’s like a cop telling the bank robber, “Ok, release all the hostages, THEN I promise we can discuss that helicopter you want”.
“Your dogmatic critiism [sic] of Mitch is not warranted
“
Ditch has had two years to get this straightened out.
That he has not brings a ton of well deserved invective upon him.
McConnell has done well on judges. Today he allowed a voice vote to pay Federal employees affected by shutdown in effect giving them a paid vacation, in advance while the shutdown continues.
“We are at war with Eurasia. We have always been at war with Eurasia.”

They really think that will work. Because it has always worked in the past.
But times have changed.
So Chuck U wants to force on the President a bill he wont sign. Good luck with it.

DOA
Democrats are playing partisan politics with the shutdown.
It wont bring it closer to a resolution and its a big waste of time.
When they get serious, well know.
You refuse to acknowledge that without 60 votes, there is no need to pretend to act
This warms the cockles of my heart.
Ill gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today...
67 votes used to be the rule until 1975.
“In 1975, the Senate revised its cloture rule so that three-fifths of sworn senators (60 votes out of 100) could limit debate, except for changing Senate rules which still requires a two-thirds majority of those present and voting to invoke cloture.”
