Fourth Estate? Forget about it. Joe Lockhart wants to make the media the First Estate, with the right to rule on the veracity of presidential statements before the peons are permitted to hear them.
On this morning's New Day, Lockhart, a CNN political commentator and former spokesman for President Clinton, recommended that the networks not provide live coverage this evening of President Trump's Oval Office address about the situation at the border. Instead, Lockhart said Trump should give the networks the text in advance, "and let us decide in advance what's true."

CNN’s Lockhart says networks shouldn’t broadcast President Trump’s Oval Office address live. Our betters in the liberal media will decide what’s true and what we should see.
Ping to Liberal Media Criticism list.
Why?
It’s not like they intend to do any real “fact” checking. All they have to do is their SOP and put pundits on to spin out their facts
Joe Lockhart, the Clinton liar?
Wow... not even trying to hide their true colors anymore.
They need time to figure out what the DNC talking point is going to be!
CNN & Libs are in Panic Mode.
I love it! Best. Election. Ever. EVER! MAGA! :)
At least he’s a honest little commie....................
Lockhart is a democrat propagandist. He worked in the Clinton White House. He is not interested in truth, he is not a journalist. He wants time to fight Trump before Trump even opens his mouth.
Oh, okay, I’ll send him my copy. NOT!
Big Media can’t count on leaks anymore?
Send this liar a copy. Ten minutes after the speech is over.
Kinda like the fox guarding the hen house.
“Wow... not even trying to hide their true colors anymore.”
Early on Election Night 2016 was the last time they tried.
Seth Meyers, host of "Late Night" on NBC, said the president wants to deliver the speech on Tuesday night "to repeat his lies," and questioned the decision to give him air time.
First of all, just because Trump wants to address the nation doesnt mean networks should air it, Meyers said. "Otherwise, theyre just passing on his lies unfiltered."
"They should either reject him outright, or, if he insists on speaking in primetime, make him do it as a contestant on 'The Masked Singer,'" Meyers joked.
Stephen Colbert, who hosts "The Late Show" on CBS, tweeted Monday night that the network would air the president's speech. He invited to viewers "tune into CBS to See B.S."
"My network will be carrying Trumps Wall speech live. So at 9pm Tuesday, tune into CBS to See B.S. Stephen Colbert (@StephenAtHome) January 8, 2019"
Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.) says he expects President Trump "to lie to the American people" during a primetime address on Tuesday about the partial government shutdown and situation at the southern border.
I expect the president to lie to the American people. Why do I expect this? Because he has been lying to the American people," Nadler said at a press conference near the border on Monday.
Great idea. Why doesn’t the President send a bogus written doc to them and then announce before he speaks tonight “I have reconsidered my thinking, and here is what I think now”..and then proceed to give the real speech!
Joe Lockhart looks like the sort of guy who was a character actor who always played the “Bumbling Comic Relief” role in a low-budget film or corny TV sitcom that was cancelled before the end of the season.
“I reject your facts”.
And yet, seth is still on tv. And yet, clodbert is still on tv. And jerky nadless...............what’s left to say?
It kills them that Trump can talk directly to us without the MSM filter.
