Egads! The death wasn't reported for a WEEK! What shall we do without government reporting?

But the injured party received medical attention within an hour of his accident.

The Yahoo! comments are running about 100% against such a blatant, stupid attempt to gin up hostility to the shutdown.

No doubt the victim would be less dead had this been reported in a timely manner.

Another article:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/three-people-have-died-national-parks-start-government-shutdown-n954991

It sounds like each fell to their deaths and nothing could have prevented it, so really it has nothing to do with the parks being unmanned.

“At the Glen Canyon National Park in Arizona, the 14-year-old girl fell from the Horseshoe Bend Overlook on Christmas Eve, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.

Later on Christmas Day in Yosemite National Park in California, a man died after he slipped down a long, granite hill and fell into a river, injuring his head, according to the Associated Press.

A third person died Thursday of this week, when high winds caused a tree to fall over on top of a woman and her 6-year-old son in Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Tennessee, the AP reported. The woman died and her son broke his leg in the accident”

People die at Yosemite every year. 40 years ago There were signs at especially dangerous areas that read, “STAY ON THE TRAIL AS DEATHS HAVE OCCURRED HERE”.

Oh no!

The 200 Democrat federal employees at the Park death reporting center weren’t there to shuffle papers!

Unless this guy was a relative, I don’t think I care. I’ve been to Yosemite and there are so many places to fall my guess is that deaths go unreported often.

Certainly, ‘tis isn’t going to sway my mind about the shut down.

I wish Pelosi and Schumer would do something to end the shutdown. It would be so easy for them.

On first reading, it sounds as if the body was lying there unreported for a week.

In actuality, the victim got as much assistance as possible as quickly as possible.

Whether or not it was “reported” to whomever isn’t important.

So.... the media is blaming the government for not ‘reporting’ to the media ?
What ever happened to investigative journalism?

So if a man falls off a cliff and no one reads about it in the newspapers, did anything happen?

Outdoors/Rural/wildlife/hunting/hiking/backpacking/National Parks/animals list please FR mail me to be on or off . And ping me is you see articles of interest.

Took a week to write up the report. Not to find the body, or provide aid. Which was done within an hour. Does the Huffpost really think this makes the evil Trump look more evil? Heck, Bubba shut down the parks during his shutdown. Cause the maximum inconvenience to the people. At one park was told by a ranger that access was legal, but the gates and facilities were closed. Not to ruin a backpacking trip, he told me where to park close but off site and access the park through an alternative trail. I recall returningn from a cruise during the Obama shutdown. Only two agents at immigration causing a long wait. My wife was in a brace at the time, so we avoided the wait, disabled skip the lines. I mentioned to our porter that it was a shame the staff was cut, he informed me they weren't cut, they simply moved agents from passport control to checking for something on the ship to maximize the inconvenience. Don't remember the GWB shutdown, President Trump certainly doesn't seem to be doing anything to maximize the pain on the population.

Nobody in his family wanted to tell the media? Good for them.

Reporters used to actually have to work for news stories, now they sit around and wait for a government report, or a leak from a friend they might be sleeping with.
