How Brazil's New President Will Prove, Yet Again, That Gun Control Is Harmful
townhall.com ^ | 1/4/2019 | John Lott

The worldwide news media claims that Bolsonaro has it backwards. Bloomberg News scoffs: “It’s hard to buy the current proposals championed by gun lobbyists and a few political yahoos who aim to make Brazil safer by slackening controls.” The Wall Street Journal warns, “violence experts say simply adding more guns to the mix … will only make the murder rate climb faster.”

Gun control advocates always make the simplistic argument that more guns means more crime. When states passed permitted concealed handgun laws there were always predictions of blood in the streets. Yet, there is a reason that no state has even had a legislative hearing to eliminate a right-to-carry law, let alone pass such legislation.

Open carry for self defense is the real winner, no matter what the Dems tell you to believe.

Somebody needs to tell Trump and Rubio to follow Bolsonaro’s lead instead of Bloomberg’s.

All the evidence proves more guns in the hands of law abiding people does not equal more crime. In fact it says the opposite.

You’re welcome.

My carry piece is too big to hide, and my state wants me to pay a bribe (or is it rent?) to get a permission slip for hiding one anyway... and sodomize that with a sandpaper condom!

It may well be that the death rate from firearms will rise in Brazil if this proposal becomes law...briefly, until the criminal class is both reduced in number and the survivors understand that the “good old days” are long gone. Then, Brazil will become like US states who passed mandatory carry laws, with gun-related crime being substantially reduced.

Open carry is kinda like saying: I’ve got some bling here, come try to take it. Sometimes the carrier gets taken...

“Mandatory” as in “shall issue” - it is mandatory for the permits to be issued, if you’re of age and not a felon/drug addict, etc.
