Quality control.
In my state, legal retail sales are highly regulated. The product must come from a licensed and regulated grower. It is tested by the state and must bear a label stating the potency and % of THC, CBD etc.
You pay more so you know what you are getting. Just like buying anything else - you can take your chances on the black market or you can pay a little more in a regulated retail facility and have some assurance you are getting what you paid for. Some people prefer that, even though there is no penalty for having an oz of bootleg weed in your pocket.
Does a Muslim owned company have the right to fire someone for drinking booze on their own time? Cigarettes? Does a Catholic owned company have the right to fire a woman for having an abortion on her own time? Employees have No rights when employed? some rights? Where does it end?
Unfortunately, I think the question is moot. Legalization is rolling across the states and its too late to stop it. The ramifications will be far reaching.
1. Its stupid to get high. Its stupid to get drunk.
2. People are always going to intoxicate themselves.
3. Freedom is more important than whether people make stupid choices.
4. Legalize for adults, limit RE driving, and keep educating people on all dangers.
Those surveys are crap. A person who buys pot illegally is more apt to be arrested for other offenses. But pot does not cause violence. Those who participate in illegal activity have a correlation with violent activity. Thats that. Make it legal and those people will still be more likely to be violent. But the people who do it legally will have no increased proclivity to violence.
I am not for pot. I am against stupid research.
definitely dont think pregnant women should smoke it.
A lot do, for whatever silly reasons, and I think theres a reasonable connection between this and the increase in autism.
Absolutely not. In fact, including myself, not one mom of someone with autism I know smoked pot, and assuredly not while pregnant.
We all ingested a ton of environmental plastics, we all vaccinated, we all ate food with pesticides and additives, but cannabis is innocent here.

What are you, a limited-government conservative or something?
It seems common sense to me that heavy marijuana use causes problems. Most all of us can spot long-term stoners. Why? Because they have damaged their brain. IMO, it is the height of foolishness to ingest anything that short-circuits the wiring in your brain. That includes alcohol, marijuana, or other drugs.
Marijuana IS a GATEWAY DRUG. My brother a struggling heroin addict, clean for 3 years now, says so. I asked him if it was just an excuse, which addicts are always making, and he said that 9 out of 10 heroin addicts in every counseling session over his 25 year addiction say it all started with smoking a joint and getting high. It started a chase for the next, better, high.
Smoking pot doesn’t mean you will become an heroin addict, however, it certainly facilitates the possibility.
If Pot use proliferates you will inevitably see more serious addictions.
Yeah, what, ya wanna make somethin outa it? ;)
That's it. Anxiety, paranoia... it is pervasive if you over-indulge.
And it takes 3 months of NONE to clear it from your head. Because it gets stored in cells in the brain.
Marijuana IS a GATEWAY DRUG.
Major drug addicts did those things as well.
I disagree somewhat. People who are willing to break the law to smoke pot might have not concern about breaking the law to get worse drugs.
But if pot is legal, why bother and go through the hassle and risk to get worse drugs. (Just ONE WAY of thinking)
I remember my pre-college days- if given the choice of pot or coke (both illegal) it would not matter much - i would do whatever I could get my hands on.
But... if I could get my hands on pot, legally, with no hassle, I would never bother to try to find anything else.
It must be used in moderation, though.
Nice point. Keep it under your hat moving forward.
It is about getting HIGH and not about quenching thirst or alleviating hunger.
Simple common sense.
It must be used in moderation, though.
Something that is discouraged by anti-pot laws, just as moderate use of alcohol lessened during Prohibition.
I see Weed, Inc., symbol BUDZ, a cannabis stock is up 35% at the moment. Guess there’s a whole lotta smokin going on.
Thank you. In a roundabout way you have confirmed POT is a GATEWAY drug same as any other substance that starts a chase for getting high.
Not sure what the pushback is. The MORE people introduced to getting high, the more heroin addicts we will eventually see. I know people who have taken opioid painkillers. Some have ended up with a problem. Others have not. What is obvious is the MORE people that have been exposed to the high of a prescription pain medication the more opiate(heroin) addicts we see.
Making the ability to get high easier and easier is not a good plan.
More scare stories against its legalization? Yet we have no problem giving psychotropics to kids for BS reasons.
LOL!!!!
