You make a very good point. Perhaps Cohen was setting up the FBI as he had set up so many others in the past.
Perhaps FBI officials didn’t want to give this clown the time of day considering who he is.
This is certainly possible. The whole this is America line is something I would expect of a man struggling to hide his disgust.
That said he had the phone number of a lawyer on hand to deal with disgusting people doing disgusting things.

I’ll bet they did! Even knowing about such stuff, much less poking around into it, could be dangerous to your health. The hypothetical perps would have every thing to lose if even the accusations came out, so murder of all the investigators, witnesses and victims would be as nothing to them.

It sounds like the politicized FBI *DID* look into it, found some big, powerful names, and for THAT reason then dropped it.

At the core of their behavior is to undo the Christian ethics that have been woven into our culture over millennia. Without Christianity this country would not have formed as it has.
