Ego? It's not enough to be rich and famous. They want to believe they're Great and Good and Wise, as well, and they want to share their great good wisdom with all the world. The idea that they might be nitwits, or even seem so, doesn't cross their minds.

I think the vast majority of Jews who live in poverty in the USA come from ultra-orthodox communities wherein the families have large numbers of children, Dad is studying Talmud most of the day and mom doesn’t leave the house much.
