If Trump were clever , he would use the “shutdown” to fire thousands of useless, hostile Federal bureaucrats at EPA, the Department of Education, State, the Pentagon etc. Anyone hired in an appointed administrative position between 2009 and 2016 probably should be terminated. Hey, there is no money to pay you and permanent layoffs are absolutely necessary.

Why did the Donald do a 180 on the shutdown? Pecker puss Pelosi gloating over her victory. Not complicated.

Oh and Rush’s comment....less than nothing...

7.8 Billion is also in this package for Disaster Relief, which includes relief for the California Wild Fire disasters. If the Democrats in the Senate want to make California residents suffer even more, the longer they hold out, the worse it will get.

Prior to the last budget impasse, President Trump offered congressional Democrats a surprisingly generous deal, offering to accept legal status for nearly a million DACA recipients in exchange for funding of the border wall. True to form, though, the obstructionist Democrats rejected the President’s good-faith overture, even though the $5 billion he requested for the wall would have accounted for less than 0.004 percent of the amount Congress ended up appropriating.

...

It has nothing to do with money. $5 billion is pocket change for the Swamp.

Democrats don’t want the wall because walls work.

If I were Trump I would herald a government shutdown. I would absolutely own a shutdown and then wear it as a badge of honor.

"I do not want a government shutdown, but Congress has forced me to shut down government operations. When Congress fulfills their obligation to the American people, including funding a border wall, then we will immediately resume all government operations. Until then, I call on all members of Congress to get back to work on behalf of the American people so we can move this great nation forward again. Until that time when Congress acts, I will cease all government operations."

The American people forget these “shutdowns” faster than what they ate from breakfast. Did the last “shutdown” keep the Democrats from re-taking the House? They simply do not care.

Trump should continue do as he has said, regardless of the political consequence.

I'm calling on Congress to give me a line-item veto for all govt spending bills!”

If I'm not mistaken, the Line Item Veto was found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court back in 1998

If Trump can continue to hold tough and if the monies appropriated is cast in stone and not a “continuing appropriation” I will be thankful.

However, the numbers of illegal people in the U.S. often anchored by a child born here and the thousands of Central Americans slipping through now with questionable asylum claims, is a time bomb which will destroy our Constitution and our culture.

These people must be deported.

But how? Trump has very little time.

It's going to be fun to watch the Democrats shut down the government, see Trump tasked with deciding what's essential and what's non-essential, and then to see the Democrats suing to force essential parts of the government to be shut down.

(If it's not essential, why are we paying for it? Make the House completely useless for the next two years!)

The top of the list for a shutdown should be any form of congressional or senatorial remuneration. Pay, per diem, expense accounts, private planes (”Madam Speaker”), all should stop on day one.

So do not be surprised to see the President execute a veto or a pocket veto, then after much bad press the squishy RINOs in the Senate join with the Senate Dims and override the veto.

Actually, the House will carry the day and produce victory for the wall.

The House bill included $5.7 billion for the wall and all the disaster relief money

The senate dare not vote against disaster relief for California and more importantly, for Florida
