I also saw this.
We ran into some liberal friends in the lobby when it was over. They approached us in a giddy mood wanting to know what we thought about Cheney. They were obviously ready with new liberal talking points.
My response was, “It was a movie, not a documentary”. They had no response and turned and walked away.
Majority of FReepers who saw that movie would agree.
Excellent!
Jeff Beck doesnt get his due.
Saw it today. It’s my first movie at a theatre in years other than kids movies with my kids (my actual last film in a theatre was 10 years ago, ‘Valkyrie’). So - it takes quite a bit to get me to give Hollywood a dime. It was a $5.75 matinee, so I didn’t contribute much, lol...
Anyway. The jumping around in the film from scene to scene made it sometimes difficult to segue from scene to scene, but the jumps were purposeful, so tolerable.
No spoiler here - the narrator shows up in the film, which will strike you as odd, until later in the film, when it will all make sense.
Stay til the end; there are two Easter Eggs. The Cheney soliloquy near the end is the counterpoint to the film liberal bias; and the character of Cheney gets to pointedly lay out his case; and then the focus group at in the credits at the end is predictable in some ways, but had the remaining audience giggling on their way out the door. You’ll want to be sure you stay and get to view each of these gems.
Overall, it was worth my $5.75. Bale was more like Cheney than the actual Cheney. It was very hard to tell him apart from the real Veep.
This is a movie worth seeing if you can take it for what it is. It was very well done. Of the two theaters near me, one was sold out, and the one I went to was over 80% full at a 12:50pm showing today.
