EU: Peace plan not based on 'two-state solution' will fail

Eight European Union member states on Tuesday warned that US President Donald Trump’s so-called “Deal of the Century” would fail unless it is based on the internationally agreed parameters for a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian Arab conflict.

The statement by France, the Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany and Italy followed a UN Security Council meeting on the Middle East in which US Ambassador Nikki Haley discussed the peace plan being prepared by the Trump administration.

“We, the European Union members of the Council, would like to reiterate once more and emphasize the EU’s strong continued commitment to the internationally agreed parameters for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East, based on international law, relevant UN resolutions and previous agreements,” said the ambassadors from the eight countries.

Any peace plan that fails to recognize these internationally agreed parameters would risk being condemned to failure, said the statement.

“The EU is truly convinced that the achievement of a two-state solution based on the 1967 borders with Jerusalem as the capital of both States, that meets Israeli and Palestinian security needs and Palestinian aspirations for statehood and sovereignty, ends the occupation and resolves all final status issues, in accordance with Security Council Resolution 2334 and previous agreements, is the only viable and realistic way to end the conflict and to achieve just and lasting peace,” it continued. …

Wrong.
One hundred percent of solutions carried out by nations are fully guaranteed to fail.

Why don’t we wait to see the plan before characterizing it? Funny the EU is being more Palestinian than the Palestinians. The Arab states haven’t put out any such memorandum.

Trump hatred takes precedence, remember. Secondary these days to their hatred of Israel.

What a joke! The UN members that consistently vote against Israel as regularly as people breathe think they have a solution? Ignore the UN and offer our own solution as Israel is one of our ONLY friends and must remain sovereign.

I’m surprised Poland signed on with this. There must be a story behind that.

UN funding should have been utterly slashed following that vote against the USA’s anti-Hamas resolution in the General Assembly. No use and utterly wasteful to continue funding a clone of the Supreme Soviet.

The irony is that any Palestinian state would need to be Israel’s best friend to survive on its own. The neighboring countries all have woefully poor economies and can barely manage their own affairs. Poor economies with few natural resources cannot trade or develop their way into prosperity with other poor economies with few resources. Israel has a higher GDP than many EU countries, has found enough natural gas to supply its own needs and export to Europe for scores of years, has developed desalination techniques that supplies at least 25% to 40% of all its water needs, irrigation techniques and greenhouses to farm the deserts, and is one of the top most vibrant technology developers in the world.

If the Palestinians want their own state, which they say they do, you would think they would get on with it already and make peace and start working with their neighbor Israel to become strong trading partners. Instead...

JFTR, the word “Jew” is a corrupted transliteration/translation of Hebrew “Yehudi”, which appears in several places in the Hebrew text of the Bible. The name “Israel” went to the northern ten tribes under Jeroboam after the nation was split in Rehoboam’s day (whose remaining kingdom became “Judah”, the only other Israelite tribes staying with them being Levi and Benjamin).

There already is a two state solution. One state is Israel, the other state is Jordan. Those calling themselves “Palestinian” are simply Jordanians freeloading in Israel.

Actually, mostly they are Egyptians and Iraqis by descent rather than Jordanian. They are revanchists of the old Ottoman Empire in terms of Islamic revanchism of the entire area; they will admit this freely, and proudly proclaim their desire for a pan-Arabic empire stretching across the Levant into all of northern Africa.

You got that right. These haters are absolutely bonkers. It’s really quite scary, the depths their hatred are a clue to the depths of depravity and corruption they are trying to hide.

It's my understanding the Trump plan provides for that, but in any case the Euros can simply sympathize with the Palestinian's rejection of any peace plan.

From the polish perspective, this is not the most important topic. The government of Poland is in opposition to Germany and France in so many fields, so they do not want to open new fronts.
