New York (CNN Business)The Weekly Standard, the magazine that espouses traditional conservatism and which has remained deeply critical of President Donald Trump, will shutter after 23 years, Clarity Media Group, the owner of its publisher announced Friday morning. It will publish its final issue on December 17.
The announcement came after the magazine's editor-in-chief, Stephen Hayes, met privately with Ryan McKibben, the chairman of The Weekly Standard's publisher, MediaDC.
"For more than twenty years The Weekly Standard has provided a valued and important perspective on political, literary and cultural issues of the day," McKibben said in a press release. "The magazine has been home to some of the industry's most dedicated and talented staff and I thank them for their hard work and contributions, not just to the publication, but the field of journalism."

My understanding is that the remainder of subscriptions will be filled with a new print version of the Washington Examiner.

As I tell my NeverTrump relatives, there just aren’t enough of you guys around to win elections anymore.
Not enough to keep magazines afloat either apparently.

Time for the National Review to go next.

CNN, a leftist cable “news” network critical of Trump, needs to shutter after 35 years.

There wasn’t much “traditionally conservative” about the Weekly Standard. It was a globalist “neo-con” rag that damaged the American conservative brand so badly that we have this magnificent orange gorilla for a president right now. MAGA.

Not much of a surprise, and richly deserved. Magazines in general are in trouble, with so much digital content available for free, and Bill Kristol's magazine went out of its way to annoy and insult the few readers it had by adopting Kristol's "Never Trump" childishness.
Trump has done many useful things in the White House. Not least among them is forcing self-styled "conservatives" in the media like Kristol, Jennifer Rubin, and Max Boot to expose themselves as shallow, unprincipled, hypocritical establishment hacks who put personal vanity and dislikes ahead of any so-called conservative beliefs they ever had.

Its the neocon bible.
they love Washington DC, love wars, love RINOs, and take for granted every leftist program and social-engineering project in existence.
Or, at least they did years ago when I stopped reading.
Their failure indicates that nothing has changed.
