The Jews that were expelled from Spain by her other ancestors. Excellent! . . . The Catholic ancestors who kicked out the Jewish ancestors for siding with the Moslem oppressors--who may have been her ancestors as well--who were trying to eradicate her Catholic ancestors.

For an expelled Jew fleeing Spain, going to Puerto Rico would have been like a slave escaping from South Carolina and seeking refuge in Tennessee. The first Jews to emigrate to New York City (1664) were Sephardim who had been in the Caribbean islands since 1492 or thereafter. I don't know if they were on Puerto (Porto) Rico specifically, but sometimes with empires, they just wink and kick you out to the far reaches where they don't have to think about you. A lot of Jews went to Holland and England as well.

Could very well be true. There were lots of Jews living in Spain during the Inquisition who converted to Christianity and moved to the New World. That’s why many Hispanics have names like Israel and Emmanuel. Lots of Hispanics who consider themselves to be Catholics light candles on Friday night and don’t eat pork, because that’s what their parents and grandparents did, and they never knew why. Then they found out they had Jewish ancestors.

It's possible she had Jewish ancestors who came to the New World. A number of Sephardic Jews became baptized and lived as Christians. A number ended up in New Mexico. Some kept reminders of their past, but well hidden.
I'm not saying it's true in her case, however, given that she can be a pathological liar.
