Gun Control Fail: California Firearm Homicides Up 18 Percent

California, a state with every gun control imaginable, witnessed an 18 percent rise in firearm homicides from 2014 to 2016.

This rise in firearm homicides comes despite the fact that Democrats, gun control groups, and the establishment media constantly claim that states with the strictest gun controls see lower rates of violence and death.

California has universal background checks, gun registration requirements, red flag laws (i.e., Gun Violence Restraining Orders), a ten-day waiting period for gun purchases, an “assault weapons” ban, a one-gun-per-month limit on handgun purchases, a minimum firearm purchase age of 21, a ban on campus carry, a “good cause” restriction for concealed carry permit issuance, and controls on the purchase of ammunition. The ammunition controls limit law-abiding Californians to buying ammunition from state-approved vendors–all of whom are in-state sellers–and adds a fee to any ammunition bought online, also requiring that ammunition to be shipped to a state-approved vendor for pickup.

...I would say a big part is the rise [in murder rates is because] of ineffectual parents.

...and the absence of two parents.

And in Texas they’re up by almost the same percentage over the same time.

California is the communists capitol of America. This State is totally out of control and eventually will be part of Mexico.

I don’t know, but I think they do keep records of the number of illegals in jail. I seem to recall that, in LA, about 2/3’s of the inmates are illegals.

Don’t forget, California also emptied their prisons of people convicted of small-time offenses. You know, like rapists who pleaded down to drug possession, and thus were only convicted of drug possession.

I’m not saying gun control is good, all I’m saying is that it’s not happening in a vacuum, at least in California.

“We didn’t do enough” so comes the outright ban.

From the government’s point of view, the only failure of government is not applying enough government.

Instead of realizing that gun control laws don’t work, despite the evidence in CA and Chicago, the left will push for ever more, not because they want to keep US safe, but to keep them safe from US.

Everything about Marxist positions are a contradiction with logic and fact. They are hypocrites by design.

It’s the same philosophy that allows the uber-uber rich to take their private jets around the world to climate change conferences. And while they fly individually on their own personal jets, they will regale you on the importance of carpool lanes.

Since California insists on behaving like a separate country, unbeholden to the laws of the United States, perhaps it's time they were treated as such.

California Fail,,,Yes.

But what I see is being able
to enjoy the sport is becoming
more Difficult. That may be a
more efficient way to undermine
the 2nd Amendment.

How does disarming the law abiding protect them from the armed unlawful?

It doesn't!

This is what you get when Democrats run things. What’s even worse is that we have a President who is working to bring manufacturing back, and Americans chose this over him in 2018.

Since the majority of gun crimes involved a handgun, the Left bans the weapon that is least used......Who are these people here in Sacramento? Morons?

Crime is just an excuse for more control.

Pretty much. The Left will even allow more crime in order to take *all* guns away.
