I have a friend who, through the month of November, posted a daily “thankful” post. Something positive, something she was thankful for. She decided to do something similar through December- posting things about Christmas (and Channukah). She posts things like pretty snow scenes, holiday decorations, and so forth, with brief comments. Nothing long, preachy, etc.
How could anyone possibly object?
Well, she’s had a couple of “friends” who threated to “unfriend” her over her “overly sweet” posts.
I’ve known this lady for over 20 years. No, her life is not perfect, no more than anyone else’s life is perfect. However, she chooses to keep her deepest sorrows private, chooses to focus on positives and to try to brighten others’ lives.
Fortunately, she has many more real friends than these two.
I’ve observed over the years that some people are completely miserable and can’t stand it if others are not.

I have a son who pays far more attention to what “other people” say, do, and think than I do. He is slowly weaning himself off some of that, for which I am thankful.
I tell him on a frequent basis that everyone does not have to have an opinion on everything. Further, having an opinion does not require that one express it. MYOB. Sit down, shut up, and do the right thing- take care of your own business and allow everyone else to do the same.
I have never watched the Oscars or any other so called entertainment awards show.
Just a bunch of overpaid assholes giving themselves a pat on the back for being overpaid assholes.
Never seen one, don’t care about them, and my life has been just fine.
I noticed Kyler Murray had to apologize for his anti-gay Tweets from when he was 14, after he had won The Heisman.
This nonsense needs to stop.

Yeah. I post only general observations about life and occasional funny cat stories regularly so my mother knows I’m still alive. That’s about it.

Of all the examples of the author could pick, he picked someone who did not make a careless or thoughtless tweet that any of us could have made. He picked someone who made a very sick and creepy tweet that raises some serious questions, particularly when combined with dark rumors that have swirled around this guy for many years.
Many normal people joke about race or homosexuality. No normal person I know makes jokes about pedophilia.

I have noticed that places I’ve worked, as well as the workplaces of others I have spoken to, have either bulldyke or feminazi HR managers. Never a straight white male as HR manager or (gasp) Diversity manager. They do wield the social justice mallet in a bully-like manor. And, they can cause problems for you. Things can be handled, but they have to be done very carefully.
I certainly hope so.
