Horrors! Bad food. That kids like. Including all that highly recommended carby stuff still sitting there at the bottom of the government's food pyramid.
The press is yelling 'fat people' and all that, imagining that lefty-union-controlled school authorities around the country are just itching to put refined flour and white sugar in front of the young 'uns, alongside chocolate milk. Tortillas, maybe, given the high numbers of Mexican kids (but don't dare serve them to a Honduran!), yet the reality is, the Trump administration is giving school districts some school choice in how to handle the food situation for the kids, not insisting they serve junk food for free.
The sad reality is, the Michelle Obama program did result in 'nasty, rotty' food for the kids and they threw the stuff out and imported 'flaming hot' cheeto fries instead, even setting up black markets for them. The kids didn't like the supposedly 'better for them' food, courtesy of the central planners back in Washington, and bitterly complained that it didn't serve the enhanced nutritional needs of student athletes, for one thing. It also wasn't appetizing, and the kids tweeted pictures of the slop to send that message. Then they threw the slop away. Fact: It's not nutrition if the kids are not going to eat it. The food went to waste and the kids went Galt.

Around a year ago parents in Panama City, FL, complained about the quality and portions of school cafeteria meals. A local TV station did a story on it.
They showed some of the meals and it was really bad. One thing which caught my attention was a single slice of orange.
I never did hear what happened but I know they were investigating the company which supplied the meals.
This is great news, but I haven’t forgot the promise to abolish common core.
I’m 100% Trump and recognize he’s dealing with a lot, but it’s in the back of my mind.
More unconstitutional federal acts - by definition, acts of tyranny.
The feds have NO constitutional authority over state schools or over education in general.
DISMANTLE the 80%+ constitutional portion of the federal government. Let freedom rain once again.
Well, the schools there all blew away. Problem solved.
The issue is local choice and control, not the make-up of the menus. We don’t need a menu czar.
For most of my elementary school years, my school did not have a cafeteria with "hot food." Students were expected to pack a lunch and so most days, I'd tote one of those 1970s era lunchboxes with a peanut butter sandwich, a banana, maybe a box of raisins or a Twinkie and a thermos full of milk.
Lunch boxes used to be a major item at those "Back to School" sales back in the 1970s.
Democrats are obsessed with their wonderful ideas but deaf, dumb and blind to outcomes. It would required them to acknowledge their failures, which are numerous.

Same here. Even in the 1950’s.
Back in the ‘50s my typical school lunch was a tuna salad san and an orange juice. Maybe a Twinkie or cupcake for dessert.
Elementary school is a microcosm of society in general. People of all ages rejecting the nanny state. Lol.
And they were made if metal!
Our lunchroom in DeFuniak Springs, FL. was pretty good. Their rolls were particularly tasty. You could smell them as soon as you entered.
I packed a lunch for both my kids...until the edlder graduated and I started home schooling my younger. The food during Mooch’s involvement was HORRIBLE. Boys who had after school sport were nipping to the local DQ to tank up on calories before practice.
Yep! Sure were, and called ‘em lunch pails.
Cafeteria food was expensive when it was introduced. Like you we always brought out lunch.
Regular milk was 5 cents and chocolate was 6 cents. That was all the money that we carried.
And usually inevitable.
That brown stuff — is that before or after eating?
