Congressional leaders unveiled a bill on Monday that would extend government funding for two weeks beyond Friday’s deadline.
The short-term spending measure would provide cash for the federal government until Dec. 21, preventing a messy budget battle as Capitol Hill mourns the death of President George H.W. Bush.

It’s telling that they didn’t extend it one additional week in order to get past Christmas.
Here we go again, and again, and again, etc. Forget it. Trump better take a stand this time or his support will start to lag.
Well the GOPee certainly has shot itself in the @$$, as shown by the 2018 election results.
As long as it doesn’t prevent Congress from recessing long enough so Trump can make recess appointments.
The Federal Govt is closed for Xmas and sometimes earlier the day before, and for New Years Day (and sometimes the day before).
We might be safer if they stay closed for a month or two, esp. if it keeps the Democrats from taking over the House of Representatives.
Maybe Rep. elect Ocasio-Cortez will say that we have to close for St. Festivus Day because she saw it mentioned on “Seinfeld” and felt that St. Festivus supporters were being discriminated against.
In her case, I would also have her stay out of the office whenever they show “One Flew Over The Cuckoo Nest” on TV, in honor of her mental prowess.
#5. Re the photo of McConnell. I thought he was doing a take-off of the “Seinfeld” scene where George Castanza yells at his girlfriend, “Shrinkage”. McConnell was telling the audience “It was that big until the cold water, and then it shrank”.

But they cant help it.. all congress wants is grandma to have Christmas. Its their only working days.. passing spending deals.
Look at how wonderful all of those chuck n nancy artsy spending deals benefitted the taxpayers. I still can’t believe it myself.

You know that neither Congress nor Trump are going to shutdown the government just before Christmas. This is just Kabuki theater and the wall funding will vanish into the air, again IMO.
One thing they’re really good at: Finding any excuse to avoid doing their job.
