I totally stole that -- not sure whether this falls in your demographic, but there used to be a comic strip called "They'll Do It Every Time", by a cartoonist named, hmm, without looking it up, Haplo? Hatlo? Ah, I've got to find that out, but anyway, it consisted of a large panel showing some ahistorical take on some historical event, often with puns, and along one side he'd sometimes include his illustrations of reader mail ideas. That was one of them. I remember it well, but was so young I had to have it explained to me.

I was surprised that the strip had gone on until 2006, under different artists. Astounding 79 year run! After Hatlo died, the "Hatlo's History" was replaced by "Hazy History", and (on one of those pages) the "Hatlo Hat Tip" was discontinued.
